all,

about 6 months ago i installed some luminics bulbs in my ms3. about 2 weeks later as i was follwing a friend home he told me only one of the lamps was on. i figured it was a bad bulb and replaced it. a few weeks after that i got home and decided to check on the bulbs and to my suprise there was one out again, on the same side. figured luminics made bad bulbs and bought some PIAA's. same thing happened again. took it to mazda and they said it was the aftermarket bulbs i was using. put the oems back in and the same thing.

anyone know whats goin on. i wiggled the harness and it seems to be loose. tried looking for an oem harness but no one seems to carry them for the hatchback. am i missing something? id rather not go full aftermarket and replace the ballasts and everything but what are my other options?

thanx for the help

i'd disconnect whatever connectors are involved inline with the fogs and take a good look at them. make sure they aren't fried or blackened or whatever. if you have a multimeter you can check for any short you might have, or available voltage.

Is it the right fog? I had a similar issue and it looks like the increased power draw from the aftermarket bulbs had made the wiring a little hot. Look inside the connector and make sure it hasn't expanded. Mine did, crunched it back together and it's been good ever since.

hmmm ill give that a try...thanks

I had the same problem with the luminics bulbs. I put in the stock bulbs and took it to the dealer and they replaced the connector. There was a lot of condensation in there, not sure if it had to do with a poorly fitting luminics bulb or what. I will never buy from them again. Since then, no moisture in the connector.

I had same problem with both left and right, seems the luminics bulbs are 55w and ms3 stock bulbs are 51w don't know if this is the problem but they seem to melt the stock harness a little causing a loose connection. I went ahead and bought the 9006 heavy duty wire harness, its plug and play and works like a champ!!!!!! Any place that sells the luminics bulbs should have them in stock for $20 or $30 for the pair...

was the harness u got PNP or did u have to splice into the factory one?

Yes, just plugs into the factory harness, there is about six inches of wire then you plug the bulb into the other end

Mine just went out over the weekend. I did the same thing crunched the metal piece together and it works. It was the passenger side fog light.
