Focus pistons

I remember asking this a long time ago and i think someone said i could use focus pistons in my car they have the same compression ratio and bore. Only diference is there is valve recesses cut into the mazda piston but not on the focus but our engines are non interference so do the recesses matter? they are only on the inake side.

I don't know the answer to your question, but assuming the compression heights are the same on both pistons, you will probably need the cutouts. The cut outs are there to keep the valves from hitting the pistons. The Focus engine may have different valve timing or the valve lifts may be different.

Unless someone knows for sure it's best to do a mock build up and check the valve to piston clearance with some play dough.
