Hey dudes,

i was reading an article somewhere about mazda offering a complimentry flash of the ecu or somethin like that, controlling the amount of fuel the injectors shoot out, so the engine doesn't flood so much when you open up the throttle

could someone maybe explain more about that? or maybe throw a link at me?

i'd really appreciate, thanks

Visit your dealer and ask for the PCM reflash. There is a TSB out for it and they should be able to take care of it for you.

is there a link or something that gives more details on what exactly happends, and such, i am more or less curious + lazy to go out to a dealership right now heheh

thanks! (huh)

Under the mazdaspeed section, there is a sticky with common problems and fixes with all the details you need. I suggest reading the stickies in there.

It doesn't do anything for the fuel, it only advances timing in the midrange rpm to mask the hesitation issue. If you are going to boos over 9psi, most people will not recommend the flash due to increased risk of detonation. But some of us still have the hesitation issue even after the flash.

excellent thanks for the speedy advice

hmmmm so flashing it also has it's risks eh?? interesting

well i am off for now guys, goin to get sushi!

and tommorow plannin on lookin at another speed and maybe another test drive :P

i am gettin the dealership to source out a titanium or blue mazda, yellow just isn't my cup of tea

good luck for a blue one in canada....might have to import;

oh and ky, can you post pics of that?!!(spin)

i just saw a blue one on the road around here, hmmmm, yeah prob will have to import, but i wouldn't mind a titanium one, and there are yellow ones readily available which i wouldn't mind at all.

so yeah, this salesman at mazda (dick head) said i would have to pay a couple hundred dollar fee if i have to bring a mazda from some other dealership out of vancouver...

true or false?

if that's the case you might as well go get it: it's not gonna cost that much in gasoline...

There is no risk flashing the ECU. Advanced timing is just a factor in detonation(knock). Knock on a boosted car spells the end really fast for the motor.

Preventing knock is the most important thing to remember when tuning a car. Just to be on the safe side, dont run as much boost through a flashed ECU as a non flashed, but its probably not a big deal...

Are you sure the one you saw is not an MP3? or from the US? there were not supposed to be any blue ones in Canada according to Mazda. The blue ones are very sweet though I would possibly trade my orange for it ;)

I am pretty confident it was a 3.5 dude, it had the new body kit and new spoiler and mags,

only real way i see is that he could have converted a stock protege or somethin. or converted an mp3

i onno (flame2)
