I have a 2002 auto P5
sometimes while driving, the brake lights come on (the brake used when parking up or down hill). when the light comes on, I could feel the brakes.
anyone with an auto have the same problem???
I will have it checked out by dealer when I go get my oil change tomorrow or the weekend.

Sounds like an ABS (anti-lock brakes) issue, and yes definitely get that checked out. The dash-light indicator for the parking brake is also the braking system's warning indicator, telling you there's probably something wrong with the braking system.

Definitely get that checked out right away...it sounds as well like you are saying it's the e-brake that is engaging somehow...which can be really dangerous while driving! I'd personally not drive my car at all other than to the dealer with an issue like that.

e-brake light

I had the same problem after having the car for two months. It seems I used to keep to much junk under it and created some pressure to push it up so it got used to that position, so when I cleaned up the clutter the light would stay on until i jiggled the e-brake a little and the light would go on and off. Since then it would not happen again because I don't put anything under it anymore. I also checked with the dealer and they told me to adjust the height of the e-brake. That's it. Hope this helps.

i had a problem about a month ago when my right aft brake caliper got stuck. I didn't get any indication on my dash (no light) but could feel the car struggling to keep its speed, dealer changed the defective caliper under warranty. Check your rotors and calipers as much as you can see to make sure there is no obvious problem, and definitly let the dealer know.

I had the dealer check it out. my rear brake pads were just worn out, causing the light to go on.
And heres the stealerships quote:
$83 driver side pad + $140 labor
$83 pass side pad + $140 labor
And what pissed me off, they were listening to my stereo the whole time. well, not exactly, but they had it on full blast. Could have blown my subs.

Note to self and others: always take off your face.
