I just did the first mod on my car today, at 53,000 miles. I put on an AEM intake, and so far I'm very happy with it. I had already swapped in a K&N air filter and had noticed some throttle response and a bit more power throughout acceleration, but adding the intake seems to do a bit more. I see that most people here have the Injen intake, but I got this as a Christmas gift -- anyway it seems like most of the CAIs are the same anyway.
Now for the second part of the topic of this post. This Pro5 of mine is the most jerky car I've ever driven. Anyone else have a similar problem? In first or second gear, if I'm in very very slow traffic or stop & go traffic, if I keep constant RPMs of around 1500 or so, and step on the gas a bit or let it off gently and step on it a bit, the car starts jerking, it's pretty annoying. No other manual cars I've owned have done this, so I'm inclined to think it's not my shifting ability -- especially since my foot is off the clutch. I'm trying to find out what might be going on with the car. It's done this since I bought it pretty much, and the dealerships haven't been able to give me any answers. It just seems like there's too much "play" in the engine for where the acceleration and "engine breaking" kick in. This may be a pretty bad explanation, but I'm a newbie with modding cars, and don't really know any better way to put it.
Anyway, the car sounds great with the AEM intake. Not sure what mods to do next, but I'd like to see what I can do about the jerky driving, and then maybe get some headers and exhaust...
Also, I'm thinking about getting some bigger rotors, since I'm having some break issues right now, and might need to replace mine. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
