Has anyone made any calls to the couple of members of this board who live in SoCal like SpciyMSP, and Krillin, those are the two that come to mind I'm sure there are others. It's just nice to kinda look out for each other. I know that those two are usually everyday on this board but neither of them have any posts for today...

i posted today! it's just that no one pays attention to me. ^_^

I was looking forward to getting some more of that this weekend. Too bad these fires had to break out. Maybe next week. That was the damn best fried rice I've ever had!

hey guys thanks for the concern. One of the fires is right over the hill from my house. Approx 5 miles in simi valley. Its hard to breathe everywhere I go, and Everything is covered with ashes.
It jumped the freeway and is spreading but I dont think i will have to evacuate. We will see though.

My main concern is getting to work. I usually take the 23 to the 118 and I pick up my car pool in Simi Valley. From there we take the 118 to the 170 to the 5 to the 101 into HOllywood.
But unfortunately that freeway.. the 118 and the 23 are both closed.

Which means I will have to take the 101 until they re open the freeways. On a normal day to work on the 101 it might take me about a hour with traffic to get there. But now with the 118/23 freeways closed, and the combination of the bus/train strikes, I cant even Imagine what my commute to work will be like.

Glad to hear you guys are o.k. Im doing good myself, I do have to work tonite. If at all possible you guys should stay home. It's fucken crazy, looks like im back in Iraq!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Between the Titanium color of my car and all of the white ash my car looks like salt and pepper. It sucks, I'm afraid to roll down my windows.

More pics:
This first one is in the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego, where 150+ homes have already been destroyed.

This next one is where a fire has already gone through, I guess, again in the Scripps Ranch area. Look how there's living eucalyptus trees on either side, but all the homes down the middle are rubble.

I'm at work right now in the Del Mar area (the other side of town) and my office smells like fire even inside. I can feel it in my dry throat and eyes. There's a lot of people not at work today and I hope they're alright. I know for sure some of them are at least evacuated.

Good luck to you all over there in that hell. I know what its like to loose your home due to mother nature. Christine and I went through Andrew in 92. I hope you guys will be ok.

Fawk, our mountain that our house is on is on fire. Luckily it seems to be moving back towards valley center now.
