MSP#735 said:K&N suggests you clean it around 100,000 miles....they say the dirt helps filter the air. i have a recharge kit ($10) that ive used before, works great. simply, shake loose dirt from filter, hose down and remove all the oil (filter will turn white) let dry COMPLETELY and re oil....that simple....just my experience with this great product brought to us by K&N!
I've had excellent results spraying the cleaner on thoroughly, letting it soak into the filter, then hosing from the inside out. Do this a couple of times, let it dry, then oil lightly. Hot water method works well also. Do NOT, under any circumstances, use compressed air to blow the filter dry--you'll destroy the filter material!
