I have that K&N recharge kit too. I used in on my Injen CAI last year. I'm pretty sure you need the oil to help aid in the filtering process. At any rate, I used the oil with no problems. Infact, I just 'recharged' my filter this past saturday lol (burnout)

and how much does this "recharge" kit cost? I've had my intake on for prob about 12-14k miles if I had to guess... so it's prob. ready for a cleaning/recharging or w/e the hell it's called.

The recharge kit cost about 10 dollars. But it can be used for many times.
I only put very light oil on the filter cause I worry too much oil might mess up my MAF sensor.

K&N suggests you clean it around 100,000 miles....they say the dirt helps filter the air. i have a recharge kit ($10) that ive used before, works great. simply, shake loose dirt from filter, hose down and remove all the oil (filter will turn white) let dry COMPLETELY and re oil....that simple....just my experience with this great product brought to us by K&N!

You will use the K & N air filter oil from the kit. You get cleaner, and oil. I clean mine every 6 months, or if it looks dirty. You can cleaner the filter many times with the kit.

Here is the kit you need.

The oil helps the filter trap dust. Just like the California dusters and such. They got that special oil/wax on the duster part to trap dust. You need that oil on the filter.

That's misleading. Don't "hose it down", you have to use the K&N cleaner and not water.

I clean mine between 7-10K and have been using the same cleaning kit for the past 85K/four years......

I've had excellent results spraying the cleaner on thoroughly, letting it soak into the filter, then hosing from the inside out. Do this a couple of times, let it dry, then oil lightly. Hot water method works well also. Do NOT, under any circumstances, use compressed air to blow the filter dry--you'll destroy the filter material! If you're in a hurry, use a hair dryer.

bs. the kit tells you to rinse it with water...i believe its shake, rinse, cleaner, let it sit, rinse, oil, let it sit, reinstall

I usually just let it dry naturally.
That seem to be the best.
