Filling in motor mounts

Somebody mentioned using windo-weld to fill in the holes in the engine mounts in order to stiffen them up. I went looking for some of this, but couldn't find it. Does anyone know where I can get this?

Also has anybody tried to use PL construction adhesive to fill in the mounts? The stuff dries pretty stiff, but is still flexible to a degree. I don't know how it sticks to rubber though.

Any feedback would be great.

JB weld is pretty good i've heard. dont know if that would be a good use for it though. its available at like napa or something

you can always make your own polyurethane inserts...just take out the 2 mounts and get a kit to mix and pour it into the mount and let it solidify...fits better than an insert created in a universal mold will ever do

are you talking about PL premium?
i know of it but it wont really help. the mounts are relatively cheap from awr and well worth it.

This is a good idea. Anybody know where I can ge a kit like this to mix my own polyurethane? This sounds like the way to go.

As far as being ghetto... I know it is, but the AWR mounts sound like they are too stiff from what others say. The AWR mounts are a last option for me right now.

That and AWR only makes the front and rear mounts right now. The passenger side is the one you really need (on the timing belt side). Mazda is the only one that makes one so far. Actually, it's the only one they changed on the Mazdaspeed.

i have thought about this myself since i hear the MSP #3 mount is helpful.

I was actually thinking of filling in the passanger side mount to start with, since hearing that it was the one changed on the MSP.

However, I'm probably not going to buy the actual mazda mount, since my bro-in-law who has a Speed still isn't too impressed on how it held the engine.

So, does anyone have any ideas where to get any mix it yourself polyurethane kits so I can try this?

I think Tom@Kartboy said they were working on some mounts that would be a little softer than the AWR's. You might want to PM him and see how much longer they will be.

so you mean to tell me that the only mount that is different on the MSP from a P5 is the passenger side mount? the others are stock?

According to Edwin that is true. IIRC he got the passenger side MSP mount on his sedan and said it made a good bit'o diffrence.

If anybody is willing to guinea pig, ...

http://www.rr-racing.com has a front motor mount INSERT that is supposed to fit perfectly. Not quite as hard as the AWR ones, this one still retains the stock rubber (like the window-weld idea, just with polyurethane)

im just curious, why only the passenger mount. the awr front and rear should be sufficient. it shoulnt twist and have the need for the pass. mount.

Windo-weld costs about $8, and works well. Takes about 1 full day to do them right.
what does it do turboge. just take up the excess space?
seriously im asking not being sarcastic

Windo-Weld is a polyurathane filler. It fills in the open spaces in your motor mounts and still retains partial flexibility. I've used it in a few cars and it is well worth the time spent filling them. It got rid of a lot of wheelhop on my other car.

Where would one go to buy this stuff? I went to home depot and didn't find it. Any other suggestions?
