Falkens? Any good?

I am looking for some good all seasons for my car. Was looking at these Falkens I also was looking at sumitomos HTR+ , but they don't have a beadsaver. nitto NT-450's, pirelli P7000's, and yokohama Avid's are also considerations. was also looking into some toyos, but I didn't find too much pricing online.

Oh, and I'm looking for 215/40/17's

I just bought my falken ziex mainly for the winter but a great all season tire. They handle great in the rain, slush and snow. No point for true winter tires here in LI, NY.

Same here....I'm actually doing really well with the Kuhmo 711's in the crap weather we've had here. I just want some better (round) tires. LOL I'm really tempted to get Kumho 712's, but I really want an all season tire.

My friend has the Falken Ziex-512. He likes says they are a great buy. If you are looking for performance, the Sumitomo HTR are pretty good all around. I used to have those on my civic. Never had any problems with them in wet or dry. Falken Azenis are really grippy on wet and dry as well. I live in Los Angeles so I don't get to experience extreme weather conditions.

ive been wondering this since ive joined forums...

has anyone actually drove on GOOD tires...

everyone reccomends the s*** tires...

ive driven on or seen first hand what they can do and if they are good...

i tell everyone the tires to stay away from and they still go for the crap ones...

but you know what im sick of trying to help people out and explaining to them what tires are good for their car .. people never take my advice...

because they are CHEAP...

you get what you pay for when you get tires...

some of it is stuff you cant even see. its internal things..

but buy whatever you want.....
it leaves me more tires for myself and my car will out handle and accelerate you if it was based primarily on tires....

I am very satisfied with my falkens(ziex). Got through the first snow just fine, and dry weather is better than the stock dunlops. Consumer reports just recently rated the Ziex's as their number one choice for a performance all-season tire, and they were the lowest price tested. =)

Yup, the Ziex were reported number one by a few groups and so far I love them. Pus I think they are rated for like 30k or 40k at least miles, but don't quote me.

So what tires do you suggest then? Thanks.

well falken makes good tires...

i was talking about TONS of people reccomending

Nokians, Sumitomo, Most yokohama's...

it all depends on what your looking for...

there is a compromise with tires...

great off the like capabilities, handling, not a very long tread life.

Long mileage, worse grip, soft sidewalls....

it all comes down to what your looking for...

personally i dont care about long mileage... as long as they last longer than 10k miles...

i have personally have has 6 sets of tires on my car... and may different sizes...

Yeah, I guess you have that many tires because you're a tire specialist? :D (saw that from your sig)

For the general public, I think we just want some bang-for-the-buck tires. I agree that you shouldn't skimp on tires, because they are a safety device that keeps you on the road (but I know some people judge how good a tire is based on looks!). But money is always a (significant) factor. I mean if we can get tires at cost like you we would always go for the best! :D

And I'm surprised that you said most Yokohamas are not good?

most of the yoko high performance and ultra highperformance tires are terrible...

the one yokohama performance tire i would get would be the AVS...

parada's are terrible...

es100's are terrible..

i am a tire specialist b/c i have been a tech at discount tire for over 2 years...

not b/c ive had a ton of tires on my car...

and most of the tires i buy i dont get at cost...

falken ziex suck, flaken alzenis st115 are much better, he is right most yokohama's do suck. If you want the best go for the Bridgestone Potenza S03 pole positions (a lot of money). But you do get what you pay for.

Also the dunlop fm901's are pretty good, and not as expensive as the S03's.

I sell a lot of falkens because they are cheap, because they are cheap!!!!!

s03's, azenis sports are the best grip street legal tires you can buy....outside of dot legal race tires... such as a032r and pzero corsa....

personally i prefer azenis sports b/c of the stiffer sidewalls and lower cost...

yeah but the azenis's dont come in enough sizes, damn 225's probably wont fit since i lowered my car :(

I have Falken tires on my civic and i must say they suck in the snow and are a tiny bit slippery on wet surfaces. They also wear really fast when they are warm. i autocross with mine and I will tell you that they grip like no other on dry surface though. This is where they really shine above the rest. on snow covered roads though I slide right through intersections so I drive the mp5 instead. Not sure what Falkens I have for sure its too dark to go out and see and its cold as hell outside but they are suposed to be all season tires, my ass. I would still buy these tires again though because of their excellent grip on the track. My buddy who has khumos was used to sliding through the corners so we put my tires on his car. he tried the same thing through the corners and was like " woooooow, I can't slide at all".

loccusst, whch falkens do you have? If I had the money I'd buy some michelin all seasons, but I don't have the 800+ bucks for a set of tires. I don't race, I don't drive like a maniac, so as long as the tires are better than stock, ride decent, wear halfway decent, and don't blowout I'm good.

I have to but in and say I love my parada spec 2's 225/40/18 I had them on 2 different cars. never had a single problem with grip and I've always had good wet weather tration too. I really can't say anything bad about them. Now the dulops sp 5000's they blow ass, I just got my blizzacs on last night we'll see how they go in the snow.

and yes there is a reason for snow tires on L.I. I used to live there and you get snow, they do make a big difference.
