F^ckin Dealer!!!

OK, so I have about 13,000 miles on my car. And I admit I should have checked for a lug wrench when I bought my car. (I checked for a jack, and spare.) But stupid me, I thought they would include a lug wrench so I could put on a spare!! I was driving back from a meeting I had for work, and I had about a 3:00 hour drive ahead of me. It was 10:30 at night, and I was getting kind of tired. I hear a vibration and immediately pull over, and I find that my right rear tire was blown!! No problem I thought, I'll just throw on the donut and get it fixed at the next truck stop. So I call my boss who is right behind me and tell him to pull over to make sure I can get going. He stops to help, and we can't find my lug wrench. I felt like a moron!! I call Mazda assistance and they are closed??? I had to eventually use my PCS phone, and get their roadside assistance. To make matters worse it was extremely foggy here in Nebraska last night, and cold. So I sent 2 out of the three people I had with me to ride with my boss back to Omaha, and he gave me some freight to put in my car. So here I am waiting on the side of I-80 for an hour and a half to wait for the tow truck to show up with a simple 4 way to put on my spare. I was nervous as hell sitting on the side of the interstate, and had semis flying by me 5 feet away. I went to my dealer this morning and he said he would not give me a lug wrench or cover my tire. By the way, the tire had no puncture hole, it was the sidewall that was defective. Has anyone else had trouble with the Potenza stock tires?? I have Goodyear for my 17" summer rims, and I put on my stock rims and tires for winter time. I would like to know if anyone else has had a problem with tires????????????

Had you purchased the road hazard warranty on the tires? if not it is the responsibility of the tire manufacture to warranty the tire if it was in fact defective. As for the missing lug wrench?????????? Sounds like you need to have a sit down with the service manager, The burdin of proof is on you to prove that the lug wrench was missing at delivery, Is all maint. done at this dealer? If so you have a very strong case that some one else did not take it out of the car and that it was missing at delivery. Not only that but if all maint is done at this dealer then you have shown your a loyal customer. There should be no problem in replacing a missing lug wrench. P.S. How do you replace the tires from stock to 17" with out a lug wrench?

I had my rims put on at the dealer, cause I had purchased the Goodyears seperately. And yes I do have the roadhazard warranty on the tires. I do get my work done at the dealer, and I have no way of proving that the wrench wasn't there on delivery. Also, should I take the car to the other dealer in Omaha?? Do you think they will treat me fairly since I bought it from their "competitors" Any help will be appreciated

That's a shame on the dealer, I don't know the other side of the story, nothing against you , however this may need to go higher than the service manager, try there first though, and be carefull about what you put on the internet message boards, you will find that airing and hashing things at the dealer CALMLY will help get this situation remedied, if that fails, contact mazda using the customer service # listed in the owners manual. you will be amazed at how quickly the complaint gets back to the dealer, last resort though. Go up the food chain at the dealer. And stay calm. Respect will get you a-lot further than coming on the internet and saying F-ing dealer. remember PEOPLE make up the employees at the dealer. Im sure the owner is not aware of the situation. good luck. ;)

I'm so sorry that s*** happened to you. I've had to wait numerous times for tow, but for such a simple thing to cause so much hassle must blow one's top.

I do highly suggest being calm when you approach the dealer. Basically, I don't think you should have the burden of proof. I feel that the dealership, who can get this thing for free practically, should oblige in providing you with such a cheap part. I mean s***, they'll loose more than $10.00 when you refuse to go back to the dealer for service work. From that standpoint they should make you happy.

The gentleman above has spoken very wise words. Heed his advice and you will acheive your goal.

Best of luck,

Rishie

thanks man, I didn't really mean it, I am just way stressed out. I had a rough couple of days, and when you work in retail Christmas can stress you out just a bit. Thanks for the info, I am going to go talk to them tomorrow. I wasn't a dick when I went in there cause I know how customers can be when you have no control over the situation.
