Exterior Door Handle

Some idiot in a parking lot decided it was a good idea to slam his/her door into the side of my car. :mad:
So now I have a chunk missing from my driver's side door handle - it's not a paint chip, there's actually a piece about the size of a squished dime scraped off the handle.
What is the door handle made of?
Any ideas if I can fix it or do I have to get a brand new handle?

Hey! Now seems like the perfect time to do an appearance MOD. Look on eBay for chrome handle covers and install them with the double-sided tape that they come with.
Either that or pay Mazda a serious amount of "ching" for a new handle and have it painted to match!!

That does suck though. Most people have no respect for someone else's personal property. I had someone open their RED door into my WHITE "3" several months ago. The side molding will never be the same, but fortunately, the paint came off with some polish.

they actually helped? maybe the hatch is different than the sedan, but the molding dont do squat for me. So i took them off and i highly recommend it. makes the lines of the car look much better.

Yes, it did. I may have sustained a dent in the sheet metal had it not been for the side molding.
Actually it seems that the molding may be one of the few things that is the same from 4 to 5dr.
I know this is a common "Mod", but to my eye, the car needs the horizontal "break" to look right. W/O this molding it seems to be too slab sided for me, though I do freely admit that it is a pain in the arse to clean when washing.... 'Too many places for dirt to hide.

Well, I have to admit that I was taking an educated guess on the paint work as I didn't actually check with a dealer, but everything I have seen, or purchased from Mazda is expensive.
e.g: Cartridge oil filter and gaskets (paper and neoprene rubber) $14.35; Satin aluminum fuel door $108.00; Ashtray replacement (a small piece of formed plastic, folks) $38.00; Two-tone steering wheel (w/o air bag, air bag cover and horn pad) $325.00; and (in my opinion, the best) interior door handle covers (red/black or blue/black) $250.00!!!! I wouldn't spend that for any door handle covers, would you?
Do these prices sound reasonable to anyone out there?
Now, based on these current prices (I was at my dealer today,) what is your idea of "not that expensive?"

BUT, if you want to go "chrome" as I had suggested, the set of four is $10.00 plus $18.00 shipping... from Hong Kong (where else?)!!!

I just installed the chrome door handles recently and I have to say that they look great. They look better than I expected and I was expecting big things. I highly recommend them since I feel they change the look of the car on the side significantly (I have a winning blue sedan so that might be why).

Titanium Grey Metallic....
