Evo X pricing announced

the evo 9 is much faster than the evo 10

"Much" faster based on what? I've read a Motor Trend article comparing an Evo IX to a preproduction Evo X that was misfiring at high RPMs that had the IX about .5 seconds faster to 60mph. I've also seen a test drive of the Evo X that got to 60 .5 seconds faster than the X with the misfiring problems.

and i can pull a car lenght on a evo9.

That's very vague.

hhmm... i was planning on getting evo X myself... but i guess i have to see what the sti has to offer. 17/22 on gas is really what kills me for this evo, what a shame :(

plus 34 thousand >>>??? and 39 ??? ehh... ill pass ;)...

dude theres is like 2 current mags doing comparo's superstreet and I think car & Driver, the evo9 is like 4SECONDS QUICKER TO 100MPH than the evo10,uh I think that is faster plu 4.6 to 60 vs 5.4 to 60

5.4 is the number I saw for the misfiring X. I've seen 4.9 from another magazine without engine problems. They're all preproduction models at this point. I'll wait for a final production model before I make that call.

From Motor Trend:
TEST DATA
Acceleration to mph
0-30 1.6 sec 1.6 sec
0-40 2.7 2.4
0-50 3.7 3.5
0-60 5.4 4.7
0-70 7.1 6.3
0-80 9.4 8
0-90 11.9 10.3
0-100 15 12.8
Passing, 45-65 mph 3 2.5
Quarter mile 14.0 sec @ 96.9 mph 13.4 sec @ 102.2 mph
Braking, 60-0 mph 111 ft 113 ft
Lateral acceleration 0.99 g (avg) 0.95 g (avg)
MT figure eight 25.1 sec @ 0.74 g (avg) 25.5 sec @ 0.73 g (avg)
2.78-mile road course lap 2:36.046 sec 2:34.558 sec
Top-gear revs @ 60 mph 2900 rpm 2900 rpm

It's ugly, but I'm not taking the time to format it right now. X is on the left, IX is on the right.

so the evo 9 is quicker than the evo 10 thats what i was saying, the production model is probably not going to be any faster cuase the car is heavy like 3500lbs, 300hp just is not competitve in that that wieght class. It needs 75 to 100 more hp then it can talk business

Its funny no one has mentioned this but I'd take a Turbo Mazda RX8 w/ imported parts all day long over an EVO. And still have a wallet full of cash. Both have the same "glam" appeal.

You really can't get any better than a BMW inline 6...probably the best 6 cylinders in the business...oh not to mention the twin turbos psssssst! vAroooom! (mj)

Its one of the best 6 cylinders in the world right there with Nissan's almighty VQ V6 series.

There is no turbo lag in the twin turbos. The power delivery is very linear like a V8. Its always there.

I'd say better, but not necessarily best.

I think I feel a poll coming on...

Come on!! RWD sport compact coupe, 50/50 weight distribution, Inline straight 6, twin turbos, and German engineering. Really can not get better then that.

Well what are you waiting for?

I'm still going to go with the G8 GT, supercharger (complete w/factory warranty), fully loaded with leather and navigation, and enough money left over to replace a lot of melted tires.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a G8 GXP to come in around $39k.

I know I've said this before but we think alot alike. A HSV or VXR8 would be an awesome addition to the G8 lineup. Have it badged as the G8 GXP.

i'd be more comfortable financing a boat over a longer period than a car because they last forever (or at least it seems that way). i know/see a lot of people driving around in what looks like boats from the 70s that i'm sure weren't great boats new. they prob aren't on original engines and all that by now but they still work. how many chevy vegas do you see driving around still?

I see one old vega and 2 monzas runnign aroudn here in jacksonville all the time. In fact I've helped work on one of the monzas.

personally I feel boats last longer because their cheaper to rebuild the engines for the most part.

If you think about it how many hours does the boat run for in its lifetime compared to a car. Cars see far far far more use then a boat on a day to day bases so of course their not going to last as long as a boat.

Jeez, I could buy a 08 Nissan Nismo 350z for $38,150 which is basically track ready.

Are the Evo 9 #'s your using the MR? Nobody has tested the X MR. People complained constantly about the interior being cheap and cheesy and this is the result. Heavier and more of a GT type over a track car out of the box. I hope they come out with a RS version later that lightens the car a little and also lightens the load on your wallet.

My boss got to drive the EVO-X in both Ottawa and Japan. (He jsut finished a trip out there which included a tour of the factory.)

The EVO X as it stands will come in two versions. The GSR, and the MR. The GSR is the 5speed manual version, and the MR has the twin clutch DSG gearbox. Now with each, there is also a "premium" package available which includes Nav, sunroof, etc. All the creature comforts.

He's a trusted source who has been with Mitsubishi for years, and like I said has actually driven the Evo 10. On two occasions, back to back with an Evo 9 and a modded Mitsu-owned STi pushing around 400WHP. He said the X was a much more refined machine than both, but that being said didn't have the "raw" factor of the other two cars. Depending on what you're into the X may or may not be the car for you.

If someone wants to post this on the Evo X forums, you can quote me on this.

doesn't really matter, in a straight line the GSR and MR are basically the same speed and, depending on the speed you're going to, the GSR might be faster due to the extra gear in MR. in the 8/9 the biggest difference is the suspension and the 6 speed gearbox. around the track that matters more than in a straight line. on the whole the 8/9 MR doesn't give you very much, esp if you're planning to mod the suspension anyways, so it doesn't really matter which model you compare numbers from
