Essential speed ?

i agree toolebox, but IM the one out of line. whatever. he comes into this thread basically talking smack after he bitched at me and a few others for claiming his exhaust wasnt worth over 1300-2000 PLUS shipping in HIS thread. **** him.

how much is the ES exhaust? i would go with them before i bought some overpriced s*** from Ion. and bet money the hp difference would be NEGLIGIBLE.

Just to share, this is part of the e-mail that I got back from ES:

"Hello thanks for the interest, pics will be loaded soon..I'm hoping to also
load a sound clip with the carbon fiber muffler on the system.
The system is tig welded, mandrel elbows.304 stainless steel.
we picked up 25whp and 32 ft/lbs of torque."

Looks good, and well priced, IMO.

conekiller beat me to the punch... a 3" turboback is a 3" turboback is a 3" turboback... they will all make similar power numbers with just the turbo-back... additional power based on other mods...

on the MSP, there is really only one way you can run an exhaust system... so to say one is better than another... thats just stupid, the piping will all be routed almost identically...

Buy based on price from someone that can weld nicely... i will vouch personally for the cleanliness of essentialspeed's skills on making fully functional, well built products... (i make 180whp @ 5850rpm and 180wtq @ 3600rpm with just ES stages 1&2 at 7psi... yeah, he knows how to make power!)

Sometimes the ES prices seem high, and the wait time to get your parts can be unbearable... but if any of you have seen his work, you'd cream your shorts...

here is a great example of his work:

p5 4-2-1 header that is now on my friends car (i'll get installed pics asap):

that does look VERY nice. is that jet coated already? and the ES tb exhaust is like 400 cheaper than the Ion kit.

the header came ceramic coated... on the turboback... getting the option for ceramic coating still leaves ya a few bones less in price than the iON kit (ceramic-coated ES exhaust vs. non-coated iON that is!)

if you order from ES, don't expect to get it this year. When i finailly did get my hard pipes (4 months). They sent the wrong kit. They are now giving me the run around about getting the correct pipes. BE FORWARNED at the shadyness of these guys. I would never trust them with my money.

As I said I have already spoke with Kevin about a GB and he told me it attaches directly to the TURBO and is a true turbo back system. I am sending him another email so hold in there I should have the info soon on pricing and pics.
sorry, i read your post. but for some reason missed that part. i just dont understand why one vendor would get into a post about another vendor and post something about the other vendors product that they really dont know.

I agree with this 100%.
Vendor's doing that is just GHEY IMHO. (wedge)
It's even happenning on toprotege.com now too.
If your parts are as good as you say they are, they should speak for themselves, there should be no need to comment on someone else's product, let alone in a thread about another vendor's product.

im not going to bad mouth ION cause I have always heard good things about there products. but it is bad business in my eyes to talk about another vendors products.

i plan on using all ES parts in my build-up... i just need more money! lol
me too. I have part of their stage 1 (with the injen cai), and last week had their 2.5" midpipe put on. I talked to Kevin about the 2.5 and 3" turboback while in his shop, and it was VERY clear to me that it replaces the stock S-pipe (aka downpipe). His work is very VERY clean and quality. No compromises. Sure the price can seem high until you see exactly what you get and the quality of workmanship. This guy knows how to weld!! Plus NO trips to the hardware store for bolts, clamps, gaskets etc. is important to me.

Edit:
tbl: I'm not going to apologize on ES's behalf. But it really surprises me. Yours is the first I've heard of anyone having troubles with ES. I've heard rumours of longer wait times but haven't experienced this myself, and have NEVER heard their integrity questioned!!. My personal experience with them has been extremely positive and I would highly recommend dealing with them...

I have heard of a few troubles w/ ES, but Kevin is a great (and personable) person... he always works to get things right, and if it does go wrong, he does take care of it...

as for the long wait, people do not understand that parts like these are NOT stockpiled in a warehouse... they are made to order, in the order that orders come in... so if you order hard-pipes, but 4 people have ordered full turbo kits before you... you're gonna have to wait...

It is the same with any custom aftermarket... this stuff is not a cookie-cutter part... they are hand-made, hand-crafted, and HIGH HIGH HIGH quality!

Hell, just look at JoeP... he stopped marketing his parts on his site for the MSP because the people on these forums expect things to instantly appear... and that was just on boost controllers, fcd's and fpr's...

It makes me mad when bratty little kids are so impatient that it drives off valuable resources that are here to benefit us... the same goes for vendors that try to down-play other vendors parts to steal business...

for TBL: that really sucks about your situation, and it surprized me to hear of it... im sure Kevin will get it corrected...

Ok im the "lucky" guy who bought the pipes from TBL i got the hardpipes and hks ssqv for $450 and i was all excited got ready to install it and the IC TB pipe wouldnt fit even when i took the INJEN cai out. So i called ES the next day he said first of all it wont fit the injen CAI and said the pipe should fit so i tryed again and it didnt.. he emailed me back and told me his guys made a mistake and sent me the pipe for the FMIC(the pipe was off by 3 inches with the stock IC) he told me he'll give me a good deal on the stage 2 and the CAI to make up for that.. i dont know what to do now im really confused... Kevin is a cool guy and the mistake is acceptable happens to everyone.. he anwsers emails in a day or less.. I just dont know it i was buy his FMIC for couple of reasons 1. ive heard that his kit stalls even if i get the bov recirculated and with the updated CAI 2. I dont know if alot of ppl have used it before 3. the IC is lil small maybe thats better for our car since we have a small tubo and im not gonna be running over 15 psi 4. ive heard thers alot of cutting more then IONs.. so i need u guys to help me decide shall i get it or just get IONs which has been used by many ppl on the forum and has a bigger core i can always cut the HKS from the ES pipe and weld it on IONs and consider the pipes a loss.... dont get me wrong tho i think kevin is a good guy but i just dont wanna take more risks and end up having to ship it back or modify it...

Disclaimer: I do'nt have the FMIC.

but to address your questions:
1) his kit doesn't stall. he's fully recirculated his plumbing. If it does stall on someone's, I think maybe they've made some changes to their system...
2) no idea how many people use it. Prob not a huge number, but ... tons of other people have lots of his stuff - there's no reason to doubt it.
3) why have a HUGE IC when you don't need it? a smaller IC will pressurize faster and will probably have less pressure drop than a larger one. I think the one that comes on his system is good to 275whp or something like that. A lot of it has to do with airflow through the IC, and his is good.
4) there is NO cutting. The stock IC comes out, and the holes are used to route the pipes through. I'm sure this is what he told me last week.

Email him with your concerns. He'll tell you how it is with no bulls***... and good luck!

yeah from what Kevin told me there is no cutting, but I did not ask him the piping route

from what I understand, the stage 1 piping from the turbo to the IC just has an additional piece that goes to the FMIC, and the outlet of the FMIC piping simply attaches to the existing IC -> TB pipe. he designed it so that you didn't have to buy new pipes if you didn't have the cash to do it all at once.

hmm he told me thers 3 inch cutting and triming the bumper ...

templates for cutting.. thats what it says on his site
