Engine tuning questions

Yes I did have some luck!! I had a friend put the O2 sensor in the exhaust.... just under the manifold and the rough idle got a lot better.... we also tested fuel, and it's only been getting 8psi!!! So I am going to try to find out what I did wrong, or what's getting pinched to get the fuel pressure i'm missing. Wish me luck.... i'll let you all know how it goes.

wait, what has only been getting 8psi of fuel? hell the car is supposed to IDLE at 34psi...im pushing over 100psi at 8psi of boost? maybe im just confused as to what youre saying.

Matthew.... at idle the car is only getting 8 psi..... the guy tested it with some sort of a computer and that's all it was getting.... no wonder the car has been sputtering. lol

sounds like a bad fuel pump or feed line. i would have to guess fuel pump if the idle was that low. if you want to be sure, a good purchase would be to PM MAMotorsports and tell him you need a fuel pressure gauge and probably a walbro fuel pump...both can be had with shipping for under 200 bucks easily. just tell Beau (pronounced "Bo") i sent you, or visit www.**************************.com and give him a call.

as for more checks you can do, i would take a look at your fuel feed line. if you dont know which line is the feed line let me know i can explain it to you. if its not the feed line being kinked, its 99 percent sure youre fuel pump. because i had a bad FMU and i STILL pulled 34psi at idle. but with that gauge, which was one of my best purchases ever, you could at least tell for sure on a constant basis how much fuel you were getting.

yeah, after I take a look at it and make sure nothing is kinked anywhere or anything, then I may get one of those. I almost think that the FPR isn't hooked up right or that one of the lines is bad..... I had it blow one of them twice on a trip I took the other day. I'll keep what you said in mind and let you know what I find out though. I appreciate the help.

....the mods I had to do were 1 the oil return from the turbo to the oil pan was to short, not a big deal, but still costs extra money, time and irritation. The piping didn't fit exactly right, luckily I had an extra piece of piping that they sent, that was wrong so I hacksawed off two pieces to complete the routing to the intercooler. The directions give no indication of how to mount the intercooler for this particular car, I had to actually cut part of the lower grill so that it would bolt up. What my main complaint about this kit is basically the instructions, you can't just sell a kit for 2700.00 and no come with instructions that are for that car....
I'm sorry to hear about the kit and it's directions. If I had bought a kit, I would have expected it to fit like a glowe. Take comfort in the fact that you are not alone...It took me 6 months of ******* around on multiple projects such as...manifold design and construction...Where the **** to put the massive FMIC I had purchaced etc... Be warned, it is normal for growing pains and de-bugging for as much a three weeks after the kit goes on. Simple stuff like small oil leaks and even simpler stuff like a hose poping off under a new boost level..Stick with it, it's normal to have problems. Everyone expieriences this with any type of modification this complex. Good luck...Later...Brian

Thanks for the encouragement Brian.... i'm trying to get it all straight. It seems to be coming together much better now though.
I'm happy that you are keeping a good outlook on it. Believe me, the product, IE a Turbo Protege, is worth twice what I went through to install on my car. I'm happy anytime I get in and no longer give a s*** how much gas costs. If I'm upset or pissed at anything...Key in...Gas...Swoosh...Ahhhhhh.

"...Goosfafa..." Problem...What Problem!! :)

i definately agree with brian...******* that damn FMU threw me for weeks and i was very pissed and ready to yank off the turbo and sell it and the damn car.

but now it kicks pretty good ass. and soon ill be getting the mpi tuner and AEM w/b gauge, and then i should REALLY kick ass. but the point im trying to make is it takes some work but in the end, yeah...well what brian said.

Hooking up the other 02 sensor definately helped.... I think I may have to agree with Matthew and get another fuel pump, everything is hooked up right, but it's just not getting fuel.... what could've broken it between now and last week though?

Hmmm, well the fuel pressure tests out fine at the fuel pump so it appears it isn't bad..... so now it's something else..... anyone have any ideas?
