Engine Swap Options?

I "MAY" be needing a new engine and transmission in the future for my MP3, and I was wanting to know what "Options" I have over the stock FS-DE?
I really want to try an old GTX motor and tranny if it would fit with minor mods. Or any BP motor, from what I hear they are pretty strong engines.
If anyone can help me out I would greatly appriciate it.

I have it in my MP3.

I have the JDM FS-ZE in my MP3. It runs nice, but is nowhere near full potential. Needs tuning bad!

Just go all out and put all custom fab in it axles, mounts, everything and drop a juicy FE3 in there....you will be the only one that i know of with stock block 500whp turbocharged goodness.....now these engines only came to the US in NA form but the internals are the same and you can find them in the Kia Sportage. Turbo manifolds are made for them get one put a turbo on and whatever else you would need and bam you spanking every other protege in the US!!!!!

Now thats the kinda stuff I want to hear Craig :D But I AM on a budget($3k-$5K) So what can I do for that? Maybe do the engine swap now and add the turbo goodies later. What kinda cost would be involved in that kind of a swap?
I don't like the fact that the FS-ZE is "Basically" the same engine as the FS-DE that blew on me, so I am not sure if I want to go that route or not. Maybe a last resort.

The FE3 is goign to be a costly route to go but so will teh GTX motor. My advise to you....find a FS-DE out of a 626 in the junkyard pick it up for about 600 and slap a BEGI turbo on it when it comes out.If you want a straight foward swap the only one is the FS-ZE but it blows monkey balls IMO. THe FE3 will require a new tranny, axles, ECU, mounts, and all sort of other little things but they are awesome engines...completly forged internals and oil squirters fromt eh factory. You could put a GTX motor in there but you will need ECU, intercooler, mounts and little things but it shoudl bolt to your tranny not sure on that one though.

After you posted about the FE3 I did a search and found some good info on it and it seems like an awsome engine. But the Kia Sportage did not come with all of the goodies that the overseas version had, it was detuned for the US :( . It didn't have the forged crank and the cams were different, but still a great platform to build off of.
