Engine Smell???

Every single time I drive my car with the RPM shooting up above 5k-ish, I get this strange smell most presumably from the engine bay. I have some friends who are pretty tech savvy but they have no idea what it is that they're smelling. It never happens if I drive conservatively. I never get an engine check light or have my engine temperature go up even the tiniest bit. Any idea on what it could possibly be???

is your car a manual....could be the clutc smell...it is very distinct and unlike any other fluid being burned

If it's the clutch that's stinking up the air, how bad is it? Is it like...I have to replace it!?!?!? Or more like "oh, no problem. That's normal!"

if you are driving with your a/c on you are probably just getting the smell from there. when you WOT the speed 3 it shuts the a/c off and you will get an odd smell. i am not sure if it the smell of freon or exactly what the smell is but that is probably where it is coming from. try shutting the a/c off and do the same thing and see if you still get it

A/C is a closed loop pressurized system.

You'll generally know when your smelling clutch, its quite acrid and pungent, much different than any other smell and you'll still smell it after your car is parked and turned off.

Def. not clutch or your savvy friends would have told you. How many miles on the car? Maybe its just burning plastics and such from the factory

Only got 3 or 4k on it so far. I think it still smells even without my a/c being on. And yes, it does continue to smell for a short while even after I park/turn my car off.

I do live in LA and it is still hot here. It's supposed to rain tonight so I'm happy about that :). Me likes rain.

Its normal... Its just the hot smell of metal...with the combination of burning rubber and hot brakes.

Mine does it all the time. If I run it hard and then park it in the garage, I get a hot, rubber, sweet, pungent, electrical, hot brake smell...

The smell should be coming from the front end...smell towards the front wheels and the front grill.
