Engine Knock after changing oil and filter

I have a 2008 Mazda 3 with 2 liter engine it has 26k miles. My previous oil changes were done at the dealer. I received free oil changes with the new car purchase. (I'm sure they
weren't free but it wasn't shown on my new car purchase invoice).

Two days ago I changed the oil and filter. Used a Mazda filter. I filled the new filter with
oil before installing & filled the engine with oil. When I started the engine it knocked
(sounded like rods) for about 1 second or less. After that it starts normal.

I'm just wondering if this is common for this car. I have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma with a similar
oil filter location and have changed the oil and filter in it since new and have never heard
a start-up knock.

I noticed that lots of oil runs out of the oil filter adapter when the filter is removed but
my Tacoma does the same. The oil is draining out of the oil galleries so when you install
the filter air is trapped above the filter. It's never been a problem with other vehicles
I have owned.

I used the recommended 5w-20 oil. The dealer claims they use 5w-20 Valvoline SuperBlend.

That sounds fishy , and I would get that sucker into the dealer under a warranty inspection asap . Before that make 100% sure you didnt drop the plastic ring from the oil bottle or something as obvious and...excuse...dumb as that . We all do things by accident and often it takes a second set of eyes and another brain that thinks differently to hone in on the problem ..so get a friend with some technical knowledge over and run thru the most obvious and simple possibilities and if you come up dry , to the dealer on a flatbed no less....its like arriveing at the ER in an ambulance you are taken much more seriously ...so is you car. Warranty is where you need to be on this one if you didnt F*^k it up on your own . Make damn sure you check your work so theres no egg on your face and your warranty is voided ---when the tech askes you a question like he did ---this is known as "beating you down" with your own words ...oh you didnt do that...tsk tsk ....then you did what....ha ha ha ..thats not covered .....try to keep it close to the vest - 86 the part about filling the filter first ..you just did a straight up oil change ..end of story.
