Hello, I just pulled and reinstalled a motor in my msp.. Everything works, Except i have one small issue, a low rough idle.

I could use some opinions on what could have spawned this issue, and what can be done to rectify it.

thank you :)

Not quite..

Modifications are

FMIC, cunningham rods, wiesco pistons, front and rear motor mounts and other related items.

I have the CEL fix on my second o2, but it was damaged recently, so i know my CEL is for that.

I had done a compression test on this motor a bit ago, and it came back at 210 across the board.. im testing again tomorrow.

Anyway.. its just the idle, its rough and missing alot. Coil packs perhaps?

Not to be a Dick, but you are asking a question that with out alot more information no one here is going to be able to help...... First things first, if you have a cel lamp on, i would scan the pcm before i go any further, i know that you have a damaged o2 emulater but dont assume that there may not be any other codes in there..... With so much done to your vehicle this condition can be created by numerous things, vaccum leak, timing off, sensor disconnected or damaged, or various other things.... Hope this leads you in the proper direction...... Good Luck

Fair enough, The motor was already in the car with no issues to date.

Now that the motor was pulled and re-installed, suddenly i have the low idle.

Vacume leak im not counting out, but i spent a good hour scanning the small surface we call an intake manifold. but if it were a vacume leak, wouldn't that create a steady fluctuation in the idle? This seems more random than that, not to mention it wants to, but hasnt stalled out at stop signs..

The cel was poped shortly after the car was started again for the first time, but went away for a day, after i pluged the o2 sensor in..

but during the time the cel was off, the idle was still rough.

I'm fixing the CEl eliminator tomorrow.

I've been over the motor for hours for the last 3 days looking for damaged or un-connected wires.

Did you just put the motor mounts in? My car idled ruff when I first put mine in.

The mounts were in before.. i was thinking it might be tripping the knock sensor? but it hasn't done that before..

I doubt this will help but... when I got the MSP brand new, for like 2,000 miles or less, sometimes the idle would drop and act like it's going to stall when I was sitting at a stop light a couple times.

Mine still does that all the time.

are you able to access your live data? Curious as to your short and long term fuel trim readings. Any pending codes?

EGR valve cleansing perhaps ? IAC not correctly tuned ?

the car was running VERY rich at one point.. i'll check that tomorrow when i check my speedo sensor..

I'll clean them out, but i have nothing to tune the IAC with yet. I'm working on that ;)

an EMS is in the works, though im sure if i had one right now, i'd have solved the problem this afternoon :)
I need something to control these 550's i have on my workbench ;)

Right now, Stock fuel, Stock boost.

Not at my personal disposal, i can pay the local garage $75 to scan it, but i wanted to give a few little fix's a go before i went spending funds better saved for parts or even food :)

Here in Canada, We don't have a nice place like Autozone to scan our ECU's for free :)

Though I seriously dident think about the EGR.. I'm more than positive that it's clogged.. Should have removed the damned thing when i had the chance.

IMHO it sounds to me like a vac leak. Do you have a boost gauge ? IF so, whats it reading at Idle? IT should be between 17-21 grams of mercury. If its less then that, you got yourself a vac leak.

Ok, i cleaned out the EGR and did the wire tuck.

Idle = Fixed.

I wish i had remembered that the car was running stupid rich for a bit before i pulled the motor.. Thanks for your help guys.
