Depends on how mechanically inclined you are and on your previous experience with cars. When I bought my MSP it needed a head gasket done, the most experience I'd had working on cars before that was some brake jobs. I dove right in. 3 months later, my MSP ran on its own for the first time. Now, I have much more experience and recently swapped out the head on my MSP in a matter of hours and it started right up and runs fine. Overall I'd say the engine swap on an MSP is pretty simple and could be done by anyone with some previous mechanical experience. There is plenty of info on these forums for all the necessary steps.
