Engine bay shave?

I see some tricks like the window motor delete and wiper arm delete, that were used on Pirana's MSP. His engine bay was a mild shave, wire tuck compared to some of these.

OMFG.... This is a complete insanity.. Holly cow !!!! beautiful bro a work of art no doubt... im speechless...........

Since you already own 2 of the cars we are actually talking about any plans on making more performance parts for them, like i mentioned before more suspension goodies, traction bars etc ? i still think there is tons of stuff to be done to make this cars near or better than others like stis or evos..

I know this thread is not about all of these we are talking but and all could be cleaned up later, since weve never coincide online i though it was a good idea to discuss some stuff and is really nice and knowledgeable to talk to you.

Traction bars usually are made by a chassis fabricator. That's something that would be geared for the serious racer. As for a mass produced product, it's not looking too optimistic, unless a small company comes along and deems it a worthwhile business investment. Hardcore parts will require hardcore fabrication and R&D. People will then knock it off to make a quick buck so the legit R&D companies don't even want to bother anymore.

sad but sounds reasonable..... any new products in the Horizon for us Protege owners sam ?

No idea. I'm sure someone will post about it when there is.

Back on topic.
Only parts I see shaving/tucking on the Protege are fuse box, battery, engine harness so it still stays streetable. I have to keep AC/PS, ABS. Tearing into the hard brake lines will be a huge mess. For the hardcore shave/tuck, the engine has to come out and body work will have to be done.

I would love to see the outcome on this. I've been thinking about tuck/shaving my engine bay too. I still have a motor to drop in, might as well try and tuck as much as i can while its out. Keep us updated Sam with pics!

Yeah money is the end all project killer, but I'm one of those people who see modding as a paint canvas not an investment. It's not a hobby, it's a way of life and passion.

Sorry but I have to keep this

Yeah, go for it. Do it now while its easier with the engine out. Relocate the battery and engine fuse box.

I already shaved the windshield washer bottle. I'm keeping the AC/Power steering, so no race car shave for me. The engine harness is going to get cleaned up next along with the battery relocation.

sad but true....you can always get ahold of him through *********************** I think he may be a member on some of the other mazda sites, I won't mention them due the ban risk

he got banned because he didn't follow the rules, he was still trying to support his site, bu not become a AV, and ge kept doing it and we let it slide to long, he ha to become a AV or he would get banned, he chose to be banned.

Can't wait to put in my battery relocation kit and start tucking next month. Oh ah hah hah hah! Just going to do a mild wire and line tuck, but pure evil. Keepin the PS and AC though. Replacing rad overflow with catch can, removing washer fluid, and converting ingintion wire set up. Any know about how much it cost to convert from slave system to 4 wireset?

I did a decent shave of mine, took a lot of time and had to get rid of a lot of s***. It helped that I got the haltech sport ECU cause I could cut and get rid of more than half the sensors in the car, including that ugly ass MAF.

Took out A/C (All the way from condesor to a/c core inside the dash), Cruise, Washer resevoir. Relocated fuse box to under the dash, put battery in trunk, used catch can for coolant tucked it way down. Took out countless brackets and other stupid things everywhere. Tucked vacuum lines, cut and took out half the wires in the harness and re-loomed. Etc. Etc. Etc. Far too much more to name.

Needless to say it looks pretty empty but not anywhere close to that honda you got a picture of. Main difference being it's N/A and mine is turbo. Thats a lot of extra s*** that you really can't hide. Just make it look as nice as possible.

Basic rule of thumb is make it look clean. Even with a bunch of stuff in there as long as everything is neat and kept clean it looks good. Nothing worse than a rats nest of wires and lines everywhere and dirty black s*** all over everything.

By the way the pic in my sig is an older one before I got the haltech. I should get some new pics, it's a lot cleaner now.

i'm going to attempt this as well. any ideas as to what to do with the power steering lines?
those things are an eye sore.

couple of questions.

1. is there any precautions i need to take when unbolting the pressurized side of the power steering lines?

2. does the powersteering fluid need to be level with the top of the power steerping pump?
