End of the 2012 Season

:
2011 Mazda 2
For the last race of 2012, we came to Clark International Speedway with the full-course layout. When I saw the bulletin, I prayed that it would rain because the straights will surely be difficult for the Mazda2's 1300 engine. The entry list for my Group was challenging to say the least, but with a little bit of luck I was able to get 3rd on pole.

With the full cage in, car handles so much better and is very predictable

With the 1-Block Rule in place, I chose to defend the outside in preparation for the left-handers hoping to re-take the inside as he goes wide

Tried to get as much gap as possible before the back straight, seems this Honda does not like corners too much

Hopping the curbs, keeping it tight

Still waiting for the final tally of points (unofficially me and the Mazda2 is 2nd in a field of 43, a 1600 turbo lancer in front) but if you ask me, I had the most fun in the Mazda2 this season than with my Evos in the previous 2 seasons, just because of the look I get on peoples faces when the 2 crosses the line ahead of more powerful (engine-wise) cars; realizing that you do not need uber cars to run the circuit, just need a car that can dance. Plus I learned alot, corrected my mistakes that popped up driving an underpowerd car that was otherwise hidden when I drove AWD and turbocharged cars.

I love my Mazda2!

Looking good! It certainly feels more rewarding driving a slow car fast than a fast car fast. There's also much more time to pick your line through the corners since it takes so damn long to get there.

How much did the 3mm windows set you back or is it something you made yourself?

Thanks! Using the stock 1300 engine, just used custom headers, K&N CAI just behind the left fog lamp cover and UnichipQ Piggyback. Material for the plexiglass cost me about 70USD, guys at Jywellglass cut and installed all four for free.

Bracket F is the Mazda's time-attack bracket, not bad, 2nd out of 50

I have no points in the other rounds in Group F because we broke out and actually went faster (usually with the short layout), was surprised that it was able to clinch 3rd out of 58 in Group E.
