Emblems Removed

1999 Mazda Protege LX
Hey guys, I got a 99 LX that I just took the emblems off the back. I was wondering what I can use to removed the glue and to fill in the holes where the emblems were. I went to a body shop and they wanted to repaint the entire back of my car for $3500. I can't afford that nor do I want to do it. I need a quick, cheap, but a way that will still look good and you won't notice.

If you guys can help me in any way that'd be great

Jason

If you use some goo-gone or the such it will come off with alittle work, I dont know about the holes though.

Shop around and see if there any small ma and pa places that will patch it up for you. They'll want to weld the holes shut and grind them down.

I've tried goo gone and it didn't work very well. My friends dad works at an acura dealership and he has some stuff that can take it off. I just wanted to know if there was anything I could do without going to his dad.

But as far as the holes go, there aren't many ma an pa places around here. But I'll look around a little harder.

Thanks to those who responded. If anyone else has any other suggestions please share them

These links only show me how to put a new badge over my old ones and I don't want that. I want to cover up the holes and leave all my badges off.

it shows how to patch the holes, then you would need to get it painted instead of putting new badges on.

Alrighty. Well I'll go out any buy some of that tape and then go to a dealer for some spray on paint. Thanks for the help

I second the shopping around for body shops. I've never did it before, but I imagine it's a bit tricky to get a good clean match up between the patchwork and the original paintwork.

I want to do this too, but painted emblems will suffice for now, I figure I'll wait until I have a few other body work needs - IE rear lip, grill, antenna delete and do it all in one fell swoop.

FWIW I'll throw up a pic of my painted emblems, though one is stating to flake.

Bets of luck, let us know how it turns out.

find a touch-up guy that paints out of a van, they should be able to do this little bit of work for you, and they should be good and doing little spots, and usually have bondo with them.
