Emblem Painting

I was thinking about buying one of Dexter's cool glowing red mazda emlems.

But $60 US might be a bit too expensive. Thats about $80 CA before shipping. So I was thinking of just simply painting my front emblem red. I probably wouldnt use the glow too much anyway.

My plan is to paint the front emblem red and the rear one black.

Has anyone painted the rear emblem before?? How easy is it to get off?? Do you think this will look good?

I am going to photoshop this into some pics of my car real soon.

It's pretty easy. Just let the car sit in the sun for an hour or so, then gently pry it off with your hands of maybe some fishing line will help you. I posted pics of mine here a couple of years ago, lemme see if I can find it.

dude, the emblem itself is over $20 from dealer. and you are getting new emblem along with inverter.
but painting emblem is also good idea, I did it once on my car, it looked really nice :)

One of the problems though is that we have no sun! J/K. But I think I will use like a blow dryer or heat gun.

Also, could I paint it when I paint my calipers with the G2 red paint?

Pics

Here are the P-Shopped Pictures. Excuse the bad photoshop skills and the dirty car.

Just from the photoshop job, I think the front red would look good but the back black looks weird. Maybe I should try the back red too.

if you do the back one black, then you should probably do all three emblems in the back. just a thought.

yeah the back looks weird cause it goes with the chrome mazda...and protege5 emblems..front looks cool though...wash ur car haha jk

dude, if you want, i can make you a non glowing red one....
Hey I might consider that. About how much would that be? And shipping to AB, Canada??

Also, I might still be interested in a glowing one but we would have to negotiate.(lol2)

I think that paint will eat the plastic. I remember when i mixed my foliatec paint in a plastic cup and it ate through it.

OK, I will scrounge the money for the $3 spraypaint then. Have you found the thread you were talking about? Or just tell me what I should search for and I will find it.

pop it off with a screwdriver, sand it lightly to rough it up, primer, paint, paint, paint, clearcoat, clearcoat. stick it back on with 3m auto tape

Pic is a little dark.. sun was going down.. but you get the idea.. painted and clear coated front emblem and that trim piece above it (normally black on stock)..

Color matched paint and clear coat was about 20 US.. it's expensive here for some reason.. but worth every penny IMO.. and it was enough to do the emblem, trim, cupholder, and a few other pieces inside my car.
