Due to lack of money and life - This project has been running pretty slow.. heres the update.
The crank was in horrible condition - all the specs were way off and there were gouges where the rod, main, and thrust bearings each touch the crank. THe wiring harness was burnt up due to a wire getting too hot and shorting out. This was causing my starting problem.
- I had a machine shop machine all surfaces of the crank - that ran me $100
- I bought the toga main and rod bearings both in 20 over size
- I bought the OEM mazda 20 over thrust washers.
- repainted the engine red
- changed both cam seals (OEM)
- changed the head gasket (OEM)
- bought both OEM main seals - still need to be pressed in
- rewired the stock wiring harness completly with way bigger grounds and I removed all the unused plugs and harnesses (all OEM O2 sensors, EGR, Everything for emmissions, removed the charcoal canister, removed the MAF and air temp plugs, etc.
- after the wiring harness was done I re loomed it and wrapped it all in red tape. LinuxRacr compared the way it looks to a giant artery.
Right now the engine is sitting on a stand with the crank installed with the new bearings and washers. After I press in the main seals I can finally assemble everything and drop the engine in.
