Its starting to engage when the pedal is farther out...and every once and a while I get a slight gear clash when shifting to second. Has any one else seen these problems before the clutch decided to give up? I am thinking about switching to a high performance clutch. After hearing some bad things about act from tom@kartboy I have been having second thoughts about ACT he was having problems with one on an Impreza thought, so I'm thinking that mabe this wouldnt be a problem on a fwd protege

NOOOOO!!!! not you too man, i went with the clutch masters anyway, dont really know why, just wanted to be different from the crowd and have the clutchmasters well me and jeremy have it, but alway.

IF it is gear crunch, it's not the clutch, it's something in the transmission most likely. I would change out the transmission fluid with some redline. Go to the thread in the Perfommance section on Redline Transmission Fluid. I switched, and have not had the crunch since.

Go to the mechanic (dealership or otherwise) and have them take a look at the clutch pedal for you. They can adjust it so it engages the clutch better, or more to your liking.

If it engages farther and farther out it might be the hydralics are leaking. Our clutch is hydralic actuated, so if something in the system is leaking, it'll show kind of a loose pedal.

It happened in my old RX-7 twice. The master cylinder went (fortuantely the was car parked and not running), then the booster cylinder went, or vie versa. Both times I came outside to drive away and the clutch would not engage at all. I couldn't put the car in gear at all.

Just a thought.
