ECU Question

Ok the ECU controls the Fuel/Air ratio, right? And the Protege ECU is giving tuners problems under 3500 rpm, right? I know FM makes ECU for their Miatas. My question is could the Miata ECU be used in the Protege? I don't think the fact that it's RWD makes a difference...would it? It's a 1.8L, which the old Protege engines were 1.8L, too. So if the Miata ECU could talk to the Protege engine, would that solve some problems?

Are you refering to the Aftermarket ECU (Link) that is made for the Miatas, or the stock Miata ECU?

I was looking at some of FM miata turbos, and they sell an aftermarket ECU as part of the package.

its not the fact that its a rwd car, the harness' are different in the vehicles. The plugs would not match up IIRC.

That's what I wanted to know. It would be cool if it were just plug and play. Oh well...it was just a thought I had pass through.

Trust me, I was looking into the AEM E-Manage system for the miata to work in my MSP and AEM said it would not match.
