ECU Flash ONLY for hesitation in warm weather?

I have been reading the message threads on this forum regarding the symptoms or hesitation on the 2003 and 2003.5 Mazdaspeed vehicles with the ECU flash being the resolution to most or all of the problems.

Is the flash ONLY for vehicles that have shown signs of hesitation in the warm weather and not the cold weather.

I live in Minnesota and it seems that my vehicles hesistate or hiccups a little under light to moderate throttle in 2nd and 3rd gear.

The service guy was almost trying to talk me out of this saying that those hesitation or symptoms only exibit themselves in warm weather.

Also, can I just request the the clunking noise be fixed with the new bushings, I have only heard it a few times since I have put almost 1000 miles on my vehicle.

Also, do I need to test ride my vehicle with a tech for all this since the TSB's are already out and address these issues?

Thanks for any help.

Get the flash regardless, unless you plan on making your car into a monster. The clunk fix is temporary, it will come back. The dealer should already know about all the TSB's and do the required work.

Anyone know the ACTUAL TSB id# for the hesitation and clunk issues. I am not finding anything on alldata.com and nhtsa.com. Thanks!!

Its not going to matter whether you have a flash or not for ANY kind of build up. Whenever the advanced timing that the flash causes a problem in bringing the car to the 'NEXT' level performance wise, you're going to need to invest in some kind of engine management anyway. Remember, the flash didnt correct anything as far as FUEL goes, it only advanced the timing. Other than that, the car is exactly the same. Having a flash or not having a flash isnt going to make any kind of difference.
