did you disconnect your battery while doing this? That'll reset the ecu so you don't throw a CEL.

whats a CEL...do i just disconnect, the bat, reconnect and let it idle for a couple minutes?

a cel is a check engine light, and i dont know why the throttle would stick open...i assume all wires are where they should be?

Just disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes and reconnect it. This will reset the ECU and should rid you of the idle prob.

i dont think i got a CEL...im gonna go take a better pic of the intake, you guys tell me if it looks right...brb

You're right about clearing the CEL, but a good habit to get into when doing this is disconnect the battery, turn the ign. to the run position for a few seconds and then shut it off and reconnect the battery. This will drain any capacitors(sp?) that may store electricity. Some other manufacturers actually tell you to do this in the service manual.:)

it is probably sticking because you ebay filter isn't filter all elements and some dirt/oils may be getting into the intake and sticking against the throttle butterfly, holding it open.

You will only get a CEL if the problem persists for a while.

My brake lights were blown for a while, butafter about a week of them staying blown, I threw a CEL because of them. I replaced the bulbs and the CEL went away.

Yes you need to reset you ECU, to allow it to relearn a fuel map, to adjust for the added air you ar getting. Just disconnect the battery, then get in the car and tap the brakes, to drain all remaining power, hold the brakes down for about 10 seconds. Once all power is drained, re connect the battery, and let the car idle for about 5 minutes. turn the car off, then back on, and give it a test drive, to relearn the full fuel curve.

For future reference, I suggest equipping yoru intake with a conical K&N filter to filter better. Available for order at any local autoparts store. You will need to know the size of the intake piping though.

-To reset the ECU disconnect the NEGATIVE TERMINAL !!!
-Press the brake pedal for 10-15 seconds
-Reconnect the Negative Terminal cable

heres the new pics: the first is the MAF and temp sensor

the second is the piece that i didnt reconnect...

Umm, yeah, that's the purge control valve. Just pick up an L bracket somewhere and find somewhere to attach it to.
Injen has you attach it to the top of the throttle body housing where there are two bolts. Just remove one of the bolts and use that to hold the bottom of the bracket - that's one option

Hey Stealth! Check out this theory. Just clip an inch off of the vacuum hose, slip it over the metal "tongue" on the Purge solenoid, zip-tie it onto the intake, and BAM!!!

natey, thats an AWESOME solution, i actually have zip ties too!
one question, why cant that thing just hang and what exactly does it do

I'm not really sure, but my intake came with really detailed instructions, and it said to "make sure the Purge Solenoid is level".

ok, at first, when i had the problem, the valve was hanging down low, now i have it sort of sitting on top of the brake fluid reservoir...ill do your idea tomorrow right before school

I would love to help you out but I can't stop staring at cbcbd's sig!!!! Good Lord somebody turn that off....I gotta go to bed sometime tonite.

Do any of your intake piping have a plug hole in it??? It should. There is a sensor that plugs into the front intake piping shortly after the filter.

Notice at the front of mine
Link cause image to big
Where it plugs in.

Anyone elses missing this plug??

btw in case you were wondering it is the IAT sensor (Intake Air Temperature). This could cause the car to run very rich or lean depending on what it thinks the temp is. And most likey will not throw a CEL light since most only do that if a voltage lost/jump is detected. And since the plug is still functionally it won't throw a light.
