Dyno Results After Mod-Fest

:
Mazdaspeed Protege 2003.5
Last summer I installed a ton of parts and I haven't had a chance to dyno the car up until now.

- Custom FMIC
- Custom 3" turboback
- Corksport S-pipe
- Custom Short Ram Intake/Hardpipes
- Denso Iridium IK22's (.032 gap)

Stock I pulled 151.8 whp and 161.6 torque on a Dynojet and with my mods I pulled 187.3 whp and only 162.05 torque on a Dynapack. Both runs were done with stock boost and both runs had horribly rich A/F readings of around 9.8-10.5 while in boost. I am assuming that is why my torque numbers are so awful. My boost was spiking a little to 7.1 but it was holding steady at around 6.2 after that.

Do these numbers sound accurate to what others have dynoed at or is there something wrong with my car?

Mike

at that low of a boost level I would be pretty happy with 187whp on stock ecu tuning.

Thanks for the kind words, I wish I had the cash to do a little tuning. Do you guys think upping the boost a little bit to 8-10 psi will help lean the fuel out a little or would that be unsafe? I think I have the supporting mods to handle that and I don't go to the track or race everyone around town, I just want the car to be smoother and more responsive.

Btw, I put front and rear motor mount inserts in and that made a HUGE difference in driving feel. Even handling seems improved.

the rear motor mount made a world of difference in my car too. i can burn out now without hopping and my shifts are cleaner too

You can up the boost a little to lean out the A/F, but you should really have the car tuned to get a better A/F ratio it will run so much smoother and you will get more hp with the same amount of boost.

Ive heard good things about the SS AFC, but you can only control the A/F.So if your running stock boost youll be ok,but if you plan on upping the boost you really should get something that controls both fuel and ignition

im in agreement with all above. If you put a cpu on that, it will work wonders -- you really have no idea! Also, i should think that if you just wanna up it to 8psi, the AFC would do you just fine, timing won't be too much of an issue.
