DSM's MSP hardpipe kit installed!!!

I got my hardpipes today. Install was very straightforward, albeit time consuming. Install by myslef took just about 2 hrs. DSM suggested, as I do now, to have a helper. Wish I had gotten one. Anyway, the quality is excellent and I have no regrets about purchasing these. Definitly put the pipes in the order dsm suggests. My inet was down so I couldn't get the directions, and now I wish I had waited. Cuz what I figured out after a while, he had already said in the directions. Damn impatience of mine. Following the directions should clearly take less time. I'm going to upload some pictures, sorry about image quality. My sis is at the hospital having a baby and took the digi cam, so all I have is cell phone cam.

Wow, seeing those pipe comparisons side to side makes me want to (blarf) all over my stock pipes. I'll be getting these soon. :D

(werd)
If I didn't already put out a grand for my FMIC, I'd be all over those. Very sweet looking.

How do the pipes feel? did they smooth out the boost curve? Help with hesitation?

Well, I live in an area when WOT is ill-advisable, so I hardly ever get to a point where I feel to much hesitation. But, I can say that the car does feel quite a bit smoother in the rpm's I do get into. Nice and smooth up into 4-4.5k. That's about all I get to before I'm above the speed limit.

has anyone tried to mate these pipes up with one of the smic's?
or can dsm weigh in on this?

the SMIC's should fit fine, if it fits the stock one. They made these to replace the stock unit. So it "should" fit. You can always use longer couplings or make it work either way.

I only ask in reference to another thread here discussing albeit minor fitment issues between hardpipes kits and smic replacements, attributed to the greater flexability of the stock piping, etc. I figured they would be close enough, but one user was looking at cutting the pipes to make them fit and such, which would suck.

yeah, i hope there are no issues, i plan to get these and then add the tubohoses smic at a later date.

Thanks Will for getting pics and a review up asap, I again apologize for the bracket mixup and you should have it very soon! Yes, lube and a helper are the biggest thing I stress in the install instructions, but I feel ya on the headache it took me 2 installs to realize the benefits of a little lube....hmm if that doesnt sound dirty. Ok SMIC question...since the pipes are designed to replace the stock plastics our pipes should work with smics that are designed to work with stock pipes, the only one I have heard thus far that does not is the turbohoses smic which is apparently designed to work only with their hardpipes. We're looking into getting a smic from both circuit sport and turbohoses to see exactly what the fitament issue is, and perhaps to see if we can devise a way to make the fit work with our pipes as well, as I actually think turbohoses might have a quality smic. If nothing else we will more than likely just design our own if we cant get some sort of cooperation.

Hey DSMConvert, have you had time to work on my special request hardpipes? (naughty)

Ooooh, and tell us what the "Secret Product" is...

Ok just confirmed with Turbohoses, their upgraded SMIC will work with our hardpipes. hehe oh chris I may not be as fast as you yet, but you better watch out when our secret project hits the market!!!!

BTWQ, when will your intercooler be done, i figure by the time i have enough money for it you will be finished with the R&D

If you are upgrading to hardpipes an SMIC is a must. For those getting these hardpipes and who have turbohoses hardpipes: do you want me to talk to ********** and Turbohoses and see if we can get a group buy of sort on the SMIC? Maybe if we get enough we can get a discounted price. I know there is some competition with SMICs out there, but Turbohoses looks to have the best product and if we can get a discounted price....

Sorry for the threadjack, but getting these together would be a good upgrade.

just out of curiousity, why would you rather have a SMIC instead of a FMIC.

just curious?
