Dsm Afc = Holy S*#t!!!!!!

I think it's a must have, plus it eliminates fuel cut which is a super bonus for us people who have to deal with the nice cold weather.

So this "super map" Is this used for stock MSPs? And Im guessing this would be beneficial for me to order......

Hows the install?

I think the super map is for Stock MSP's or modded MSP's. I am modded, not heavily, but the super map works awesome for me.

sorry....one more......all I have is an Injen & Corksport exhaust...how much of an improvement will I notice?

SuperMap is just that, super. It is supposed to work across the board stock or heavily modded. Of course, getting it specifically tuned for your car will always yield more power and more safety for your engine. Supermap is safe to use no matter what mods you have.

You don't need a wideband for this, but if you want to modify the maps on your own without going to the dyno, get one.

You'll notice a big improvement. I have stock exhaust, fmic, and injen cai and I noticed a big improvement.

I know this AFC is a great step in the right direction.. but what about timing advance? last i checked, this seems like a good reason why alot of people's motors blew. too much side load on rods that are less the thickness of my thumb.

It doesn't control timing directly. It does it indirectly by adding and removing fuel. I can log my timing and post it up. That information is greek to me, but if someone else would like to look at it and explain what's going on that would be great.

You don't want to advance timing, you want to retard it.

That's why I bought the J and S.

This AFC and the J and S = My EMS.

What is this J&S you speak of?

n/m, my lazy butt went to Google and looked it up myself. I'm guessing you're using part number 2002? That with the AFC would be a pretty cheap alternative to a full blown EMS.

j and s is a timing device that uses a knock sensor to advance or retard each individual cylinders timing. Combined with DSM AFC Im hoping it will work great for me too. Until then I will be using methenol injection to thwart timing problems. (Also FYI, you can pull your IAT sensor and place it near something warm like the rad to keep timing retarded 4 degrees after 4800rpm -poor mans EMS ;) )

I just want to make sure that this is safe for my car w/ basic mods & not increasing boost...

its fine for your car and will smoothen out the power delivery. You should read some of the other threads on the AFC, I believe there is a stock dyno w/ afc installed. (thumb)

I have read the other threads, but have one question. What is the difference between the Airflow Logistics version of this vs. the Standard PSC-1?

sweet, thanks... Im reading all that I can (2thumbs)

Yeah well its official...I installed the DSM AFC today and all i can say is (first) ! I cant even begin to explain how much of a difference I feel, plus no fuel cut which is SICK!!! The power is so much smoother and when it kicks it SLAMS!!!

The install was pretty easy, took me about 90 minutes. I didnt run into any problems at all, and I ended up mounting it inside the glove box. I no longer have any stalling issues, which I did have due to me running a Greddy RS vented. The idle seems to be very very very slightly rougher...it almost bounces between 500-600rpm's constantly, but its hardly noticeable until u look at the tach.

Just want to give a big (thumb) to DSMConvert for offering this product and HIGHLY recommend it to each and every MSP owner!

~ Nick ~

Congrats! For once you did something right (thumb)

Apparantely there is some different firmware in place in the chips inside the PSC-1 that is specific for the MSP. I was told the same thing about the PSC-1 when I had my Lancer, RRM sells these for the Lancer for $430 without the R4 software. They said the PSC-1 is specifically made for each car. I think that's a load and that the PSC-1 is "tailored" for each car.

Nick, whats problems did you have before the AFC? A friend of mine is having some problems with his install, a very nasty idle and such... shot in the dark but im looking for some help.

Somewhere in the settings(don't have it in front of me) there is a setting called "Over Pressure", this should be set to around 1psi. Apparently there is a glitch that can cause the map to reset this value to -18psi or something, which causes the AFC to override the O2 sensor even at idle(put it into open loop). John at airflow logistics told me he thinks this value is changed somehow when transferring the file from win2k to win xp or something.
So first thing I would do is check that one.
Also, make sure you have a proper vacuum/boost source getting to the AFC and verify these values in the software.
