I bet he doesnt like drifting because...

1.) he likes keeping his ride in one piece
2.) because its dangerous and you risk killing yourself, other drivers, and anyone walking on the sidewalk nearby
and
3.) Because drifting is a gay Japanese fad that wastes tires and differentials!

I agree...... drifting should only be done in a closed off/condoned place...... like a track for example.

I remember reading an article in one of my import mags..... about how they needed to hold a D1 competition race at a track, and just before they were to start, there was some NHRA drag competitions going on.

The editor commented on how people were saying things like "damn Japanese crap" and "are they shooting a new fast and furious movie?" (lol)

But after they started doing the drifting, and showing the skills of the professional drivers, and how they had one car sit in the middle and 3 cars drift around it with their front bumpers within like 2 feet from the car

the Fans were actually enjoying it.....the same people who were making silly comments about the "Japanese crap"

So you never know.....some people can actually appreciate talent/skill. I'm not a HUGE fan of drifting..... I'd love to have a beater car, like an old 88 rx-7, or an s13 240sx, to go to a few local drift competitions, just to have fun..... but would I seriously compete? probably not.

But I still have respect for the racers who are able to hold a prolonged 70+ drift in their cars.

FINALLY A NICE SUMMARY!

You might be able to drift an AWD if you put gobs and gobs of HP in so you can break all the tires free from the pavement. And yes a bunch of those AWD cars drifting have been RWD conversions and many have been in magazines showing their RWD capabilities.

But a almost stock speed6 drifting...nope...not happening...maybe sliding around a little, but not a REAL drift. And until I see a vid from the 19 year old kid who says he wont make a vid till he beefs up the car...yet keeps posting that he is doing 60ft plus drifts anyways...i wont believe it.

if you are doing all this drifting why dont u just take a friend out and have them video tape it? You keep saying that you know its possible because you are doing it anyways, so why not just video tape one of the many times you have supposedly done it??

laugh out loud. i AM getting footage(outie) , and i AM taking it easy on the car in all my drifting right now. i've concluded you all(i mean the nay-sayers) just don't have any drift skills(nuts), oh well guess its not your thing. thats fine, but don't doubt the MS6 is all i'm saying.

i do have an old beater car too (first) its a 2.3litre turbo just like my speed. and no doubt i learned how to drift in that car well before i even thought about buying a speed. but the concept of drifting doesn't change a ton from RWD to AWD, you are basically coaxing the cars rear end either way. and i even prefer AWD for certain turns, cuz you have so much control of the front end. nowadays i hardly notice my front tires pulling cuz my backing tires seem to be pushing more (don't argue, cuz i know its front wheel bias) but i must be reaching 50/50 power distribution i swear.
with a RWD the hard part is maintaining control throughout the drift, with a AWD speed the hard part is manipulating the car into throwing max power to the rear, while still trying 'toss' the drift.

Well wheres the video? I'm not doubting you just cause of your age...Im doubting you because of your age and what seems to be a lack of knowledge.

And no i dont have drifting skills...I have a FWD dummy. Oh yeah but i could start doing e-brake slides, cause appartently that is considered drifting (piss)

Im un-subbin because this is a lame ass thread, but I'll keep my eyes open for this fast and furious 4 video you'll have out soon...just do me a favor and make your video before u keep braggin about your very un-documented skills

Like i said dude, if you want to wreck your car or risk killing people then you are just a punk ass ****** teeny bopper. I will totally doubt you because of your age if you dont show enough maturity to do the right thing on a public street.
I mean i dont believe you are driting anyways, but the fact you think it's totally cool and that you have mad skillz is ****** hilarious.
I'll totally give props to REAL drifters cause yeah it takes skill, but i still think its a fad sport(like frisbee golf) and i think people that hang on those guys nuts and then drive around their home town sliding into corners are ****** losers.

I don't think it's a fad sport, I think it'll be around for a long time. like NASCAR, but yeah the people drifting on public streets are idiots.

Trust me I know what you're talking about, and I know AWD can be drifted, however you have to be making enough POWER to be able to break loose the rear tires on command of the throttle...... that's what some people don't seem to get, and some people doubt the ms6 can do it, but not if you're putting down enough power......

I could drift my F-150, ROFL believe me I tried it once..... (and yes this was on a track bitches, and it was for s**** and giggles, not a serious competition so keep the idiotic comments about a truck drifting to yourselves). (2thumbs)

Why the hell would you want to drift a ms6!?!?! Drifting is a extreme way to rag your car, I'm talking drive train to tires. Unless you are a sponsored pro drifter, drifting a $30k car doesn't make you cool, it makes you a wanker. Stick to your old beater for drifting and give your speed 6 to someone who will appriciate it, not rag the s*** out of it. /rant

I can't believe that this thread is still alive. Let it die people...

And btw, anyone who says "I got skillz" is a loser. Someone else calls you cool = you're cool; you calling yourself cool = douche bag. Anyone bragging about drifting in the streets and then trying to defend their maturity is a douche bag. Even professional drifters hit the wall on occasion, but maybe you just have more "skillz".

Good, you can drift in your MS6. If you wanted to drift, why would you buy an AWD car in the first place, especially one that is FWD biased? The whole point of an AWD is so that you can keep traction. Sure, you can defeat the system with enough power, but why not just buy an RX-7?

Final point; a 60' drift is lame. Go sideways on half a circle track (on film)and I will give you credit. Until then, I'm unsubscribing from this thread.(burnout)

i gotz MAD SKILLZ yo!!!

jdm fo lyfe nukka!!!

anyways, the guy says he doesn't have a RWD beater, that he learned to drift in....... I for one would like to see the video...... would be nice to see a MS6 drifting.
