Drifting the MS6

E Brake Drifting yes...Power On sideways counter steer drifting...no way.

I wont believe it from ANYBODY until I see a video. So...in light of that enough s*it talking and put up a vid.

hah kk, i have a feeling i am on your bad side killer ;)..but i will get a video up in this thread no doubt. but like i said, i would really like a REALLY tough rear diff mount first. cuz i don't drift with the e-brake..thats last resort in a drift i believe. and i agree with everyone about it being stressful on the stock mount.

We'll be waiting up to fall for a video if he's waiting for a beefier rear diff mount.

This thread is a waste of time.

ya..you're probably right (about having to wait a bit). sorry but i don't exactly have much warranty left...well no warranty the way mazda works. dealer:'hmm over 30k on the car..thats normal wear and tear, not warranty its gonna cost you two nuts'(uhm)

let this thread fall out of the top(since everyone is waiting for the vid), and i'll revive it when i get a video. its gonna be sick, and you might not be waiting as long as you think...fall! no way lol. i still drift everyday, only i generally take it easy on the car doing it. i wanna make the video a compilation of a few bomb drifts..so i'll be pushing it a little bit more. so i'll post when i got them up. (werd)

you can wish me luck..so nothing breaks lol

drift or get sideways in first gear while taking a corner? i believe it can get sideways in a corner and you can power through it but awd will want to correct itself so you'll end up going in the direction your tires are pointed after a few seconds of going sideways so calling it "drifting" is a stretch

EDIT - DSC WAS off... I never ride with DSC on in the MS6's

before the thread dies down... I would have normally agreed with everyone on here, BUT!!

I had one out a few months back, and thought I was crazy when I - came around an S-turn (onramp) low in 2nd gear (30mph roughly) throttled through mid turn (to the right) and had the ass gently sweep me to the outside. Lifted the throttle and I tucked back in gently to grab the following turn left.

now I personally didnt believe it, and decided to try another right turn...

this was about a 95 degree turn to the right... I came in cold @ about 25 mph... right as I was turning in, I punched the throttle in 2nd gear, over powered the rear and promptly turn the ass out. counter steered (as I was currently 35 degrees + turned from the road) and eased off throttle. The tires grabbed, and I corrected myself. It was enough of a slide that my ass end had pulled itself into the adjacent lane with ease.

Honestly I wasnt expecting the results that I had and assumed that the first time was simply a mistake (maybe wet tires or gravel). It IS possible, but Ive noticed not every speed6 reacts the exact same. I dont know, I did it... and I DEFINATELY wasnt expecting to. One thing I can say, the vehicle was really easy to control simply with throttle modulation.

you could be right... I was in quick turns and not sweepers, so I cant justify that thought either way.

really dont think that was e-brake work. but no one will ever know until they ask them. but it was cool.

Found this article: http://www.carpoint.com.au/car-review/ce6727.aspx

You can see pictures of it drifting, and this was said in the article. Don't know how true this is, but it is interesting:

"Drifting –- the art of controlled sliding -- is a sport growing in popularity in Japan, and catching on around the world. Bakaj told CarPoint that the MPS must not only be the best performance sedan Mazda can build, but it must also suit the unique needs of this growing sport. "

Nice ebrake work. If that is what you call "Drifting" ...(rofl2)
didn't look like ebrake to me but certainly wasn't drifting. it was powering through the corners, most awd cars will let you do that. the problem with awd cars is that once they get to that point they'll let you hold it for a little while and then as you keep powering through pull the back end in line with the front. staying sideways as long as you (the driver) wants instead of the car and linking corner to corner, like real drifting, doesn't work in awd cars. you can power through and get a little sideways, even get totally sideways, and do it back to back through corners if the corners are the opposite direction, but calling it drifting is not accurate

No no no no no no no.

Almost forgot. . . . no.

Can you drift a FWD car? Sure, its called an uncontrolled slide.

LOL, you can actually use the e-brake and lock the rear tires in order to slide them out....... now granted, it doesn't look as good as a RWD tandem drift, but it's still the same....... there's a video on streetfire.net with a white civic crx being drifted, lol

For all of you saying you can't drift an AWD car.........what about the Skylines and the Evos that I've seen in the D1 competitions? Hmmm?
