DownPipe Install

just got done took 4.5 to 5 hours. The hardest part for me was getting the old dp out of the car. The bolts i was surprised came out as easy as pie...

Got my DP today. Looked at the instructions and it looks like I'm gonna have my hands full. All I need to do now is to find the time to do it.
By the way, does anyone have the torque specs on the oxygen sensors and other bolts?

So was it pretty much strait forward?

yes, very straight froward with the cpe instructions someone gave to me. As long as you follow every step, a caveman could do it. I don't know how people can say they do it in 2 or 3 hours, but with a little patience anyone can do it.

I recommend to you to have plenty of socket extensions and get a swivel socket thing at Sears and you should be ok, O and don't forget to get yourself a nice pipe to use as a breaker bar.

i did mine in 2 2.5 hours with a small break to talk w a friend when he stoped buy but i turn wrenchs for a living

Lol, i just got done putting my stock dp back on. The car smoked like a bastard for over 150 miles, i guess i have a bad turbo seal. O well the swap out took only 2.5 hours this time around.

The power was amazing but i couldn't live with the smoke.

I hope mine dont start smoking..Im thinking about getting the catted DP from cpe and just selling my txs dp because of this. How long did you run the dp before you got the smoke and what year car do you have?

Oh I see you just installed it on the 9th or 10th,That didnt take long.I dont know about you but I hated that DP install.I have all the tools but 1 of the bolts broke on the heat sheild and my 2nd O2 not coming out didnt help.I had to fight with my 1 O2 sensor for over a hour to get it out and I spent over 2 hrs on getting the 2nd out and that dont include driving to 2 diffrent muffler shops.Trying to unbolt the 2 bolts that hold the Dp bracket to the car had me stumped for a bit or I should say it was just that 1 bolt on the driver side. And now all I can think about is if my seals are going to leak.I have a CC so Im hoping they will help.

I heard of people installing Oil Catch Cans for the PCV system and getting rid of the smoke.

I have an 07. I have to say non of the bolts gave me a hard time, i used plenty of PB Blaster and both 02 sensors came out in a snap, with no damage. I made sure my car was really hot, i even have the burns to prove it..

Quick question. Did you guys unhook the o2 sensors before taking them out?

I did..I also drove my car home from work and that is about 32 miles and then tried to take out the O2 as soon as I got home.I also used plenty of PB.I hope if my car does smoke it will wait a few weeks or a month because then I will be ok with changing it again,RIght now the thought of messing with it makes me sick inside.

I don't know if this is true but I read on another thread somewhere that installing a turbo inlet pipe got rid of the DP smoking problem. I guess you just need to let the turbo breath in both the hot and cold sections.

Never heard of that. Of course, it does give me an excuse to continue modding (naughty)

Man...these threads detailing how the car started smoking after installing a dp catted or not has me leery of installing mine.
I already have the turbo inlet but I doubt this is the cure.
