Dodge SRT-8 Wagon

Choice between Volvo XC90 (Soccer Mom) and a Pacifica? Hey, Sex Sells. I *dig* the Pacifica. Now, take a Pacifica and make it beefier looking -I mean really dodge-truck/Hemi aggressive - and it could be really cool. BUT i think this wonderful vehicle doesn't have a market niche (or it is too small to sustain it).

Remeber the Impala SS (98-99) and the "Lord Vader, your car is ready" print ads? Macho-dad cool. Cut way above the pedestrian Taurasaurus and (yech! Caprice that spawned it).

See also Merc Marauder. My point? I don't think the Macho-Wagon get it... SportWagon? Of course. [more blahblahblahblahblah edited]

Peace!

:D
What do you mean First?? I am driving the Bus!!!

hehe ok, I was just trying to poke fun cause you said got instead of go. I agree it was lame.

But seriously I have no big thing for Mazda. I love my car but there are better brands out there, I just can't afford them. To me there was no better sport 4 door for 18k, not by a long shot.

The MSP is a very promising platform, and it is nice to finally see Mazda stepping up to the plate and addressing the Few Issues the car has.

As far as its Value/Performance for the Money, You are right there isn't much that can touch it. It is a well balanced car Power/Handling. A shame no one in my area has the guts to take me for a run....I would like to see what its true capabilities are......*Cough* Arlan *Cough*

:D

All I gotta say about this SRT is that if I had a family, the wifey would be driving this roasting up the tires! :D

I like it enough to buy it one day . . . . . MAYBE

The sRT-8 looks like a step in the right direction for an American automaker... like it or hate it, the neon SRT-4 is the first real american peformance car that the average Joe can afford (excepting maybe the Camaro SS -- let the flaming begin). Nice to see Dodge at least trying something new, rather than just grinding out various versions of the Durango (like other American automakers that will remain unnamed... how many versions of the Explorer/Suburban will we see?). Besides if I had 2 or 3 kids to tote around, I'd much rather drive a 400 HP hearse than an SUV/Van any day...

That thing looks like a HOSS! I kinda like it but it looks big, I don't like 'em too big. I do like the HP and rear wheel drive. If it were a little smaller I'd be all over that. Interesting, veddy interesting.

Make sure you have tools with you.

Yeah because as soon as you get it, you will want to start modding that HEMI under the hood! Not to mention, all the new Chrysler vehicles have at least a 7year/100K mile warranty on the powertrain.

I remember reading about this a while ago in one of my mags (Car & Driver or Road & Track). It's a cool concept, but I have mixed reviews....I agree w/ those that have brought to light the dillema w/ domestic vehicles - the reliablility sucks. (but it is getting better...maybe by 2020 we can have cars as reliable as an 87 civic...:)..my old whip lasted through 2 accidents, 2 CV operations & still went to 200,000 miles)

On the other hand, though, to use the statement that was in the magazine article, "you can drop the kids off at daycare and lay a patch all the way to work" (or something to that effect)

dodge has come out with some sweet cars recently

im not crazy about the looks but the numbers look pretty good :D

damn, I am suprised to get that much emotional feedback off this thread...

I personally love the Brut size of the car, I mean not for nothing, aside from the lower roofline, the Infinity FX35/45 are not that much different in concept. This FX has 330+ HP I believe and this has 460+ HP... the idea to me seems like carry the family or heavy payload and still be able to move like a son-of a biatch... I mean c'mon guys you have to aknowledge at least the fact that we are talking about a sport/wagon/crusier/rear-wheel crossover thing stuff category that has been brewing to a boil over the last couple of years and has become to me one of the best reinvented design in a long time. From Matrix. Vibe, Protege5, PT Cruisers up to the Pacifica, FX35/45, Murano's... Car Makers have recognized the desire to have fresh concept vehicles leave the paper and hit the road.
I think that this is a kick ass car all the way, I mean really, what wagon do you know is just shy of the same HP that is in a Viper???

By the way I think the asking price is expected to top out around $45k loaded...

PS, I was reading that the only color was going to be that Grey and maybe one more....

... The big three have always been a reliabilty hazzard. They are just not up to par with say a Toyota or a Honda.... Pick up a copy of consumer reports. See all that black, that's bad. They have been covering cars and trucks for a long long time. Look at the track history of the big three. Like I said J U N K.

Consumer Reports a reliable source of information? Maybe and maybe not. Take a look at reliability records between vehicles like the Mazda B3000 and Ford Ranger. Or check ratings between the Toyota Corolla and Geo Prism. Etc, etc, etc... You have the same vehicle, same drivetrains, same of almost everything except maybe some badging, fabrics and colors but usually different reliability ratings. They are known to do this with other products also. Appliances, lawn equipment, electronics. The same manufacturer may make the same item on the same production line but with different labels and they give them differnet ratings. They are not consistent and can't be taken seriously.

Agreed. It's amazing how many of the "Not Recommended" products are better than their top rated stuff. I look at Consumer Reports purely as a form of entertainment. I would never base a decision off of their reviews.
