Great point. You're never going to start out with everything you want. Maybe the parents oversell kids on this idea or they want their kids to "have it better" than they did. I have actually heard parents say this.

And to participate in the topic, I moved out when I was 17 and the only time my husband and I had to move back in with the reants was for a couple of months when we both got laid off at the same time from the same company (damn Motorola).

I have always been too proud to take money from anyone or help. I still won't even let my parents pay for dinner when we all go out and I have to drive myself in my own car wherever we go.
They think it's silly, but I just hold my independence too tightly I guess.

Um, that is great but we are attacking me now. It is all about attacking me for my opinion.

If you can't read the whole thread then maybe you are working to hard?;)

I am usually a beer snob (youngs, New belgium ETC.) but if I am drinking "regular" beer I would rather have PBR, it tastes better IMO and is less than half the price. See: "I just quit my job"

:( that must suck.

Hope you get hired back at the plant soon.:D

work?! HA! Just so happens I am a freelance artist (jobless mofo) and I did read the whole thread! :D

On the other hand, I find it hard to attack you because I love that NY spunkiness you have. :p

I'm always (lol) at your posts!

sweet! I have cracked the code! Insult him and he blows up. Give him a compliment and it makes him STFU! (lol2)

Last thing my parents paid for was a plane ticket home for the holidays. It's nice being bribed to come home. Been on my own since 18 and loving it.

I just moved back in with the folks because me and my GF just split over the holidays so I had to get a new place. Plus I haven't decided on where to move to yet. My job is dece. for the time being but I am still looking. It's nice not being tied into a lease so i can pick up and move whenever I need to. I've only been there a month or so now and its not too bad. I'm only there a couple hours a day. I lived on my own for the past 5 or 6 years. The plus side is no rent now means new motorcycle in the summer :D

Moved out at 19, moved back for a little while here and there between renting. Haven't been back in 5 years.

Of course I'm 27, and a daddy.

Yeah I was ready to buy a house and get married but then my whole plan for that went out the window. I am pretty much the only one out of all my friends who lives at home. Thank god I have places to go on the weekends.

diane, you should move back for a while so i have a roomate

I wish it were that simple hun. :( I really miss Kentucky. She is beautiful. But we're on and making more money here...

We could have TWO, count them TWO Pro5s in the lot...and one bad ass miata who would love to hang out with your girl. :D
She is a girl, right? Akio loves chasing the hunnies on the road...

I've worked since I was 15, and moved out when I was 19. I moved back in with my parents at 22 years of age when I got hit with child support, and then my parents split in Sept. this year. Now I am helping my mom thu this divorce by living with her until she gets on her feet, then I'm back on my own again. I loved when I was on my own for 2 years. It was great. I guess I will read this thread later to see if it has turned into a flamewar yet. Back to work for me!

I became a father at 17 and a husband at 19. My wife and I have been married for over 14 yrs and she was taking 19-college hrs a week when she was 18 with a 2 yr old to take care of. We made 5000.00$ dollars that first year we were married with a kid and I never ever took any government "Assistance."
I now have a 16 yr old daughter who is a good kid and she is already looking for apartments for college, will have a part time job soon, (after I buy the car), and of course has heard me harp on endlessly about self-sufficiency.
She will be fine and she is welcome at my house any time for any reason. I would rather her make her way in life but I will help her as long as it takes.
