Do you live with mommy and daddy?

Agreed. Then again, the "twenty something bums" are prolly pretending not to see this thread too... that, or they're still SLEEPING cuz they don't have a job and don't need one because mom+dad = income!

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!

s***, I wish we all lived close so that we could get together and talk cars and put down some cold ones (your choice, beer or soda).:D

couldn't agree more- been on my own since I was 18- Now I am struggling to run a business with my family- life can be tough, deal with it!

With mortgage rates as low as they are now, there isn't a better time to buy a house than NOW. :) Even rental properties are less expensive because of the demand for purchasing. I purchased a house for less than it would cost to rent a comparable place.

Well, that is not true in many places in the country. I don't think I could have afforded a house in NJ on what I was making (combined with my wife). We brought in about 70k a year and were living in a eleven hundred dollar a month apartment (it was VERY nice though).

When we moved up to Syracuse we bought a three bedroom 2000sq. ft. house and the mortgage is just about thirty dollars more a month (with taxes included) that our apartment down in Jersey.

You know what I say to people who have excuses for moving out of their parents home?

I LIVED IN SOME F-ING DUMPS IN MY LIFE!

BE AN ADULT!

i havent lived at home in 5 years , i moved out right before i turned 18. I had a major disagreement with my roomates the other day and was kicked out of my house. NOw i am homeless and have been staying with friends and my car is packed with clothes. I may move back in with my mom for a few months because ive been talking to a reality broker friend of mine and if i save for about 3 months she can get me in a nice house. So, im not looking forward to living with my rents again but it my be better to crash there for a few months in the long run cause not knowing where im gonna stay from night to night is kinda stressful.
I jsut dont want to waste more money on rent when i am so close to be being able to just buy a house.

Yep, location location location. See you got it right...you maximized your investment and probably relocated to an area where you could comfortably purchase a home.

I'm 27 and live with my parents. So what's the big deal?!?!

Heh, j/k. I moved out to go to school when I was 18. Upon graduation I bought a NEW house and got a smokin' interest rate. I'm 23 now with a house and two cars (not trying to toot my own horn). However, I've worked my ass off for it. I've been working since I was 14 and at points worked two jobs (could never have enough money, hehe). I'd say it's paying off well now.

You know what amazes me? Kinda similar to what ceej said. I'm suprised at how many people are replying to this, and how quickly. I thought there wouldn't be many people here as well, but there's an incredible amount of attention to this thread already... makes me PROUD to be a member of this forum.

Here's my question now... I'm assuming a lot of you are at work too... who is posting from work. Or, another version of the question... who here is out there actually making money right now like they should? :p I am for starters, lol.

I'm currently at work...on rare occassions like today there is some downtime for browsing the forums.

Hehe...I was waiting for this. I'm at work now, but you have to take a break every now and then, heh.:D

I must confess that I just moved out of my Mom's house last summer and I'll be 25 soon. However, she told me I wasn't allowed to move out until I was 25, at the earliest. I paid her rent, in addition to paying all of my other bills. We also get along very well. I had a 2 hr. commute to the office each way that was killing me, so I moved. I've been working since I was 13, got my BA 2 years ago and covered my car insurance starting from when I first got my license.

And yes, I'm very bored here at work.

Yeah, lol, me too... although sometimes being a webmaster has its slow moments... Right now is one of them. That should change though... it's time to have some databasing fun... gotta make an interactive form that stores individual entries in a database that can be later accessed by our "shipping admin", wooooohaaaaa. FUN!

Yea..."cultural" meaning, hang on to mommies apron strings for as long as you can. BAH!

Moving back home for a couple of months while you get your s*** back together is dif. than staying at home and never moving out.

What pisses me off even more is when you see a guy (or girl) and they have this TOTALLY modded car, and they live at home with mommy and daddy. I want to slap these people upside of the head.

Amen.

I'm 22, and still live at home. Most of my friends do too. I JUST graduated, so I'm job-hunting. It makes sense to save up for a down payment for a house/apartment b4 I take the big plunge. btw, CEEJ, you see the Syracuse game? heh

ha...this is great to be able to vent about the un-motivated people in life with 500 excuses for everything...j/k
I have lived on my own since 2 weeks after my 18th b-day worked 2 jobs and went to school
3 months before my 19th b-day my boyfriend and I decided that we were in it for the long haul...LOL
and we closed on our first house YAY
didn't live above our means and we now have a car, a truck and an older van
now we are 21 & 22 and will be closing on our second house to use as a rental property :) and if all is well with the rental property then we will continue to add more :)
hard work, saving and investing is worth it :)
I have a friend who is 27 will be 28 in march STILL lives at home with her parents WTF !!!! all she does is shop, shop, shop WTF

heh... my friend's brother works at ATI and makes over $120,000 a year... and he still lives at home... (and he's been working there for the past 7 years)... LOL

I went to university in town so I stayed with my parents most of the way through but moved out for the last year.... (key part for excuse makers) even before I got a full time job or finished paying for school !

Parents always said, "You want a new car then you better be able to pay for a place to park it at your new place because we aren't a bank and we're not gonna help finance toys" Damn fair if you ask me.
