DIY valve cover paint job

Decided to paint my extra valve cover

things youll need\

*cleaning fluid brake cleaner or simple green works.
*medium coarse ball (harbor freight)
*option - corse and fine sanding sponge can use sand paper.
*180 grit sanding wheel (brown one in picture) (Harbor freight)
*your choice of paint-I used flat black oven paint good up to 1200F drys supper fast!!!
*Little elbow grease..
*New valve cover gasket..

so youll start with something that looks like this-

clean and sand down with your items-

I like the color get some pics of it installed. I need to do some major clean up of my engine bay. Just have had no time.

ill be honest im going back later to put a clear coat on it but came out good i think now i got to do the pipes cause nothin is maching now...
 
Thanks it looks like teflon black the kind used on fry pans..now I got to finish the rest of my projects sitting in the garrage..ill show thoughs later

I have a feeling that the valve cover has the finish that it does because he polished the valve cover to a degree before painting. Doing that can sometimes alter the finish of paint if you dont use a primer.
 
Ya i polished the cover before painting then went over with the ball to make sure the paint grabbed. put three coats and and it does look pretty smooth, to be honest i was trying to polish the hell out of it but then thought about it and it would have looked terrible crome style so i painted it. also sanding this bastard by hand is a pain.
