Thought so. ION exhaust sounds pretty good.
Yeah, the new turbo really made the exhaust come alive, it sounds so good now. <!-- / message -->

Very nice. Now we just need a slew of pics, a sprinkling of videos, and we should be good!

Sounds awesome. Have fun with it for us!

no, no, no, forget the pics and video unless it has something to do with you running at the track or getting on a dyno, LOL...

Okay, true...I'll give you that one.

So are you going to be tuning @ 15psi for your high boost setting, or tuning above 15psi once you get on the dyno?

I want your car... :(

Hey, let me know your impressions of the piston coatings, if any... Do they still make the diesel noise?

We will be tuning up to 15psi on the dyno. That's the highest I want to go and the highest it's safe to go on 91 octane. We could tune higher, but that starts getting dangerous. That's one of the great things about the Haltech, is one map is good for a range of psi, in my case 8psi-15psi, and all I have to do is a turn a knob to adjust my boost and the Haltech responds accordingly.

At some future point we will tune my map B for 100+ octane and 20+psi :D<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_1067687", true); </SCRIPT>

The piston coatings are working as advertised.

I have never heard forged pistons in person before, so I couldn't make a comparison from personal experience, but the guys at SPD said the car runs much quieter then other forged installs they have heard. The noise isn't bad at all.

simply amazing. didnt know that about the haltech. PM me if you go to any meets around here, id like to see the beast in person, if thats ok. havent been to any meets yet.

I think the stock transmission should be fine. The only component I would worry about would be the differential.

we'll see how it holds up. If not I can upgrade that to. I believe there is an aftermarket protege limited slip that will hold the higher power.

Yeah there is.....also Mazda has "updated" the unit also. It is supposed to be stronger because they were having to deal with too many broken ones.

side note- They made the carrier stronger by making the lsd weaker (if that makes sense). They got rid of the springs putting tension of the clutches, now it uses PFM instead of spring pressure. It looks like an open diff.
