Disco Potato MSP up and Running!

Here you go, copied from a skyline site, confirms a story told to me by a good friend into Nissan's and Z cars.

The disco portion:
They nicknamed it the disco potato, long story short, because Garrett made a custom gt28rs for a early 90's Sentra awhile back. This Sentra had some sort of "chameleon" paint job or something that was a mix of purple, gold etc. Basically it had a "disco" look to it, though I don't remember the potato part. I believe it was some guys at Nissan in a certain division, that had a friend at Garrett. They got their friend to make this custom gt28rs for the Sentra, and it's said they used that Sentra for changing the minds of the executives when they might have felt like killing off a Nissan sports car or anything else along those lines. They'd take them for a ride in the "disco potato" and scare the crap out of them! ;) They had the whole story in SCC years ago.

The Potato portion comes from the shape of the compressor map:

Awesome, thanks for the quick response. I keep forgetting CA only get 91 octane, such a shame. I'll freight 93 over each month for ya :)

So the E6X has a air intake temperature compensation so that a "base" map can work at any temps and then the unit will adjust the maps as needed per each pis from a calculated set of parameters? Are you running it in parallel or as a standalone?

It's running in parallel, the Stock ECU still has control of several things, but the Haltech has FULL control of fuel and timing on and off boost from 0-redline. If we left any of it to the stock ECU the car wouldn't run because of the 440cc injectors.

It has an air intake temperature sensor that is mounted in the intake pipe, just before the throttle body. Unlike the stock temperature sensor that was before the turbo, and IC making it pretty in-effective as far as the actual air temperature was concerned. The haltech will self adjust for various operating temperatures and make corrections for air temperature and coolant temperature.
 
oooh nice thanks for explaining :) i remember reading an article in SCC w/ that disco sentra and i wondered why they called it a disco potato...i figured the car sorta had that disco-ish color, but it also kinda looks like the skin of a potato

and with the haltech, can you pass emissions (i.e. plug in obdII scanner) or did you give up on that hope?

It's suppose to pass smog here in California. A buddy of mine is a certified smog tech and currently teaches at UTI. At some point I am going to take my car to the school and we are going to put it on the smog machine there to see what happens. Just so I know.
 
I'm skurrrrrrred of your car. Just nasty man. Run that thing on the track and dyno already!
 
Waiting on parts to finish it off, My factory exhaust manifold is cracked (it was cracked before this whole thing started) and I need replacement radiator fans because one of mine failed, so we won't have final dyno numbers until the middle/end of August.
 
Man i hope you upgraded the cooling system as well. When i put the FMIC on my car and was runing over stock boost on a warm day the dam fan was always on.. But now i got a very nice AWR set up just for the MSP..
