Guys,

Will be cleaning my floormats this weekend. Has anyone had any success with a particular cleaning product when using it on the floor mats?

I think in the past I have used carpet soaps and detergents of various kinds, and then used the pressure washer at the car wash to get the grime out. The followed by a vacuum to get the majority of wetness out.

Any other tips?

Thanks,

Brian

Actually that sounds pretty good. I used carpet shampoo on and around the Mazdaspeed logos, because they had gotten a bit grimy, but maybe I'll adopt your method for my springtime cleanup. Most times I just take the mats out and smack the sand and dust out, then vacuum.

I usually use one of those carpet cleaner steam vacuum thingys and it usually comes out really good. I didn't have that last time I cleaned my wife's floor mats and used an all purpose cleaner and when it dried it smelled terrible. Now when you turn on the floor vents it smells like that in the car. So I need to clean it with that carpet cleaner again...

steam cleaners worked the best for me, i actually dumped a little fabreze in the water and when steaming you get a nice smell during and after!

...but IMHO, when you get your car, take out your carpet mats, spend 80 bucks and buy some rubber ones, they keep everything a lot cleaner!

use a low foaming APC.

i use meguiars D103 APC. Its low foaming so there isnt a slimey residue that gets left on the mats requiring more water to remove.

Woolite works, but foams up way to much, and is very annoying to constantly have to extract them to get the residue out.

All-weather floormats FTW! They have saved me this winter so far, and also were nice to collect the sand that got tracked in my car when I went to the beach. Nice and thick and worth every penny.
