Dead foot rest?

Can the "dead-foot" rest be removed...or is there something along the way
of electrical/diagnostic importantance to the normal functioning of the car?

I've got very long legs(37" inseam) and a left knee that's seen a surgeon's
knife twice...so I have the knee to get as much leg extension as possible.

thanks!

thanks for info!
I havent purchased yet so I haven't had the opportunity to really check it out.

Just trying to decide?....I found 2 '09 MX-5's discounted to $19,300 from like
$25K....and the MX-5 is a really GREAT car...super handling and a lot of
fun to drive!

But..it does lack the brute power of the MS3...which the latest quote I got
was $22,450..then $600 rip-off dealer fees.

But very happy with the quote...considering some stealerships told me the
MS3 was in such demand they would not go below MSRP...and of course the
1 dealership with the $900 rust proofing/body appearance package charge
added to that!!!!!!!!!

A new '09 MX-5 for under $20k sounds like a good deal, I'd be tempted to get that if I didn't need 4 seats and extra hauling space. I prefer handling over power in general. The good thing about the MS3 is that it does extremely well in both categories, but it's hard to beat the MX-5's handling with its 50/50 weight ratio and RWD. I had a '91 and it's just far too much fun to drive. :) I'd still have it if I didn't need the cash to put a downpayment on the MS3 (and if I didn't end up totaling the thing the day before I was going to sell it (argh) ). I will own another MX-5 in the future, probably as a 2nd car (and most likely another NA, but we'll see).
