DDM Tuning Apexcone Raptor HID Kit - $30 plus shipping

Ok, so I want to know if this harness (Or ANY harness for that matter) ACTUALLY bypasses the drl function? Reason I ask is because they also sell, as an option for the harness, this capacitor:http://www.retrosolutionsllc.com/servlet/the-297/HID-FLICKER-CAPACITOR-CAPLINK/Detail They indicate (among other things): "For use with newer vehicles with pulsed voltage to control daytime running lamps".
I'd like to get confirmation from someone who has success achieving this (bypassing drl with harness only).

From what I've read these harnesses are meant to bypass DRL's.

ok , I guess I could try the harness alone and if that doesn't work then grab a couple of capacitors. Was thinking to get them all together to combine shipping but if the caps aren't needed that's $18 savings.

I tried to do a quick swap with my fog ballasts and they didn't light up either. Checked the fuse on the harness it's ok. WTF.

The Ballast usually have a slight electronic hum to them. Couldn't hear anything. Too dark and cold to go out now. I hope it warms up soon so I can fix my lights.

What harness did you use? I asked the guys at retrosolutions and they assured me that their harness should bypass the drl system. I take it you don't use anything else to bypass the drl? I don't think I'll have the same cold weather issues you're having, I live near Vancouver- very warm here right now.

I just got my kits yesterday form DDM. 4500k - 55w slim ballast

I tried to test the H7 Low's for the P5 and neither Bulb lit up....? I reversed the polarity on the OEM wiring harness and still nothing...? It was like 20 deg F outside with some snow flurries. Does the cold affect the ignition of the ballast....? The power wiring on the HID bit is Blue wire (postivie) and Black Wire (neg). On the OEM harness, there are 2 red wires, one with a stripe. What could be causing the bulbs not to work....?

The 55w's are too much for you to power up with factory wiring, which is why I don't recommend 55w on both a P5 with halogen headlights still and no relay harness.

I used the RetroSolutions harness and it was perfect. Look at the first post if you wanna see the harness install pics I took.

Can someone do me a favor and disconnect one of their bulbs and turn the lights on.. and see if the ballasts still hum when there is no bulb on them?

Just trying to see if my ballasts are powering up correctly.

I have the DDM harness.

I think I'm having the same problem as the previous poster...
It's about 20degrees here and my headlights just stopped working completely... dunno why.. I might go swap batteries and see if that fixes the issue.

These guys were working for over 2 weeks great and I don't see anything wrong with my installation..

It is normal for ballasts to hum, that is just the sound they make when warming up/generating power.

Update:
replaced battery.
Checked fuses 2 15a fuses for r and l headlights. Are there other ones??
Checked wires again and replaces ballast.

Still nothing. I bought a Pair of halogens to keep me going this week.
Gonna find a pair of hid bulbs and see if that's the issue.

Matt what I meant was mine are no longer humming. So I don't think they are getting power. Or they are dead or they don't power on if the bulbs are dead.

Crap does anyone have one of those headlight adapters they can sell me. The thing that the halogen bulb before it can go into the white power harness? I accidently threw mine out. Need it asap since I don't have lights right now

From the 10+ tests I ran while installing my fogs/low beams, I noticed the ballast wouldn't "hum" if the light wasn't on for whatever reason. My ballasts are fine, since they are working now. You must have either insufficient power without a wiring harness or something else is going on.

I used a wiring harness on my 35w bulbs since one of my lights would only ignite half the time.

Here is a picture of the fog light. I don't understand how anyone can screw them back together with the end of the bulb hang out. The two highlighted areas shows about how far in the lens sits. The bulb would have to hang out through a hole like 1/2 and inch to close the lens all the way.
