Dashhawk needs your help!

mmmm looking good folks. It will be a few weeks before those PIDs get decoded. Im very stoked at the amount of info is in that ECU of ours. Perhaps this will help Cobb and CPE down the road. Best $300 spent in 2008 so far!

i have a obd2 to usb connector and curious if you could tell me a couple of pids. what is the pid for the boost?

This might help you.

I believe the index numbers are the PID numbers. You can ask Ken over at the MSD forums to verify.

Huh? It sure seems to be. The Dashhawk can read Cat Temp from the ECU so the ECU must be measuring it. Its normally anywhere from 1200F to 1600F.

The ECU has no way to measure it. It is an inferred value.

Try this:

After normal driving, note the temperature reading before shutting off your car.
After shutting off your car, start it again a few seconds later and note the new temperature reading.

The DashHawk will give you the same reading as any other scan tool.

There's no pyrometer in the cat then? What is it inferring it from? Rear 02 sensor? I'll give your test a try. I assume its going to read a temp far below what it should be since the ECU reset but obviously the cat didn't cool down very much.

sorry to butt in here, but...

does the DH clear/read codes? also, due to the MVP program, it seems the going rate for these is 299 no matter what...

thanks!

yes it does

neat.

looks like i'll get one of these, no reason not to considering what it offers.

this parameter monitoring is why i loved the apexi power fc so much. it was an awesome street stand alone but it had the commander that offered alot of the info that really is vital when you are modifying things.

Have you tested it...?

I also thought that it measured cat temp... Mine is usually 1200 during cruising and 1600-1700 upon acceleration...

Why would anyone prefer the Dash Hawk to the DashDyno?(yupnope) I have been comparing them and except for the choice of screen colors, the DashDyno seems far superior. What am I missing?

Support is important if it is needed. If the equipment is trouble free and the documentation is good it is less important. Has anyone encountered a lack of support for a Dashdyno? Features like scalable analog inputs, USB GPS antenna compatibility, Google earth position logging as a parameter, logging to an SD card, quick release windshield mount, these seem like huge advantages to me.

Ah but can it read our Factory WBO2 and mazda specific sensors ??

No doubt its a nice gadget

Do you want that WBO2 as a digital readout, circular gauge, or plotted on the screen against time?

Not sure about the Mazda specific sensors, but you can display the 2 analog inputs like an oscilloscope.

Did I mention it has a 3 stage green-yellow-red LEDs that may be programmed as an alert or shift light?

lol !!! i want 14.7:1 read out :) and i have NAV and an Iphone.

Dh can display 6 sensors at once.....3 stage alerts as well....And oh yeah i already have one lol (2thumbs)

Just messing man i did a little reading looks like a good product....

It does look like a nice unit and does pretty much what the DH does plus more. The only reasons I can see the DH coming out on top is cheaper price ($275 vs $375-425), bigger LCD, Color LCD, and the constant stream of firmware/software updates from Ken at MSD). Other than that it probably just comes down to personal preference.

I love it !!

I have an Omega Watch that has been broken for three years, I still love it, lol.

I'm with kingpin here. Just doing my research, how accurate are we talking. Is it pretty spot on? I'm not looking to spend to much more on my car (full exhaust, wheels, Forge or HKS), but if this thing is spot on, I may forgo one of those other goodies for this.
