Cylinder 3 misfire maybe caused by...

After My install of a 626 intake manifold along with the mp3 ecu I have been experiencing a misfire for the past month. At first I thought is was due to a faulty spark plug which i replaced and the problem seemed to go away but now came back. I then replaced the wires and a week later the problem rose from the dead. After that I then replaced the coil packs and swapped the 3rd and 4th injectors and accidentally tore the o-ring kit. I replaced the kits on both to be sure and I am still misfiring in a single cylinder. I had it up to here with this problem and took it to a mechanic and he did a smoke test and said ALL the injectors were leaking and runninng lean. The 626 manifold has two bolt downs for the fuel rail while the protege has 4. This might be another problem why the injectors are so loose. I have these options to choose from if anyone else doesn't think it's the injectors or if they have a better opinion from my experience so far...

before i spend 230 on a set of 626 injectors from ohio i need your guyyssss opinion what option i should take. This is the situation:

OPTION 1.) Buy the set of injectors from a junkyard in ohio have them shipped here so I can
Install them myself and save another 87 bucks for labor.

OPTION 2.) Have the mechanic install them himself to make sure everything is correct and that no other problems occur for 416.00 out the door with the original diagnostic, labor, and parts.

OPTION 3.) Stick to the protege injectors and buy 626 o-ring kits ( he said all 4 are leaking and the car is running lean and I previously replaced the kits on the 3rd and 4th injector and it continues to leak.)

If the injectors fix the problem then I dont have to worry about the fuel rail because as tight as i tightened the bolts down on it it still wabbles because the protege has 4 bolt downs and the 626 has only 2 located on the intake manifold. So I am in this situation currently. If jeg chimes in i know he said he might have a stock set of 626 injectors but i would love to get in contact with him today and maybe ride down to kissimmee to pick them up and maybe install and get his opinion

swapped the injectors to a 626 the blue and brown ones and replaced one seal but the car is running at a better idle a smudge above 700 rpms and the car is running smoother crossing fingers

check this out. I had a cylinder 3 misfire and replaced everything you did. I got new spark plugs, spark plugs wires, coil packs, and even swapped the injectors for the 626 ones jeg gave me. None of the aboved worked. I found out i had a major vacuum leak due to my injector oring kits being cracked and hard. So i replaced all four injector kits but what i did was with the bottom end oring... (this is where i got creative) i used a bigger sized rubber grommit then the puny one that came brand new. basically i used the old top end grommit ring and installed it in the plastic piece that inserts the intake manifold.

OR to make things much easier get the ones from discount auto for 12 bucks and they have a gigantic rubber grommit with no plastic ring. they seemed to be sturdy. after this was done i did another smoke test and wala no leaks.

Afterwards i found another leak from my egr valve and replaced it with a 626 valve that jeg had also giving me since i have a 626 intake manifold installed my sedan.

you have a fs-ze installed right? well in my fs-ze there are 2 green and 2 blue injectors, i can check out their configuration and let you know, those injectors tend to run slack easily by the way, just make sure when you install them that they seal well and ensure that the bolt up for the fuel rail is good, i really dont know how you ended up with brown injectors, remember the colour is a code for the injectors capacity so you just cant mess with different injectors...

Hey man long time no talk. so the injectors i put in are from a 626 and they fit fine just curious what cc they are in comparison to the protege. i still have the green and purple ones just haven't swapped them until i find out what differences are. So on the 626 mani i have the protege fuel rail which has a 4 bolt downs and the mani only has two. i do have a 626 fuel rail as well but it's missing that little black cylinder looking thing on the left side and don't know what that's for. i didn't want to mess around with that but i was going to install the 626 throttle body after i find out what differences they are again with the protege since they were given to me. don't know if the diameter is wider or not but.

cheap coils from auto zone cost 26 with the boot going into cylinder 2 and four. i didn't get the best just to fix the misfire quickly. so my whole intake system is almost a 626 2.0 as well as the injectors and possibly the fuel rail once installed.

Don't forget the egr as well. everything around the mani will soon be part of a 626. btw are you sure your injectors are purple and green not green and blue?

the little cylinder looking thing? lol, looks like the fuel pressure regulator, i'm not so good with colours, but the colour in the picture, thats exactly the injectors i have.if the bolt down is not exact using the protege fuel rail, maybe you should use the 626 rail for a more snug fit, was workin on a corolla the other day, and was getting a serious misfire, but was caused by the injectors not seating well...gas was spitting out, same thing happened with the protege, just shimmied them and all was well, been meaning to change my injector seals...
