And that will turn out to be a big strategic error for the PHEV since it will not qualify for the $7500 tax credit. The PHEV will have a tougher time in the US because of that.

Wrong, I got the tax credit in September, 2023 when I got my PHEV. They applied the credit to buy down the lease amount.

In the US I believe the credit only applies to leases. It is a bit of a loophole that manufacturers uses.

So if you are a buyer, you don’t have access to the credit.
