2016~2023 CX-9 41K spark plug change, found NGK plugs in the wild

I just changed plugs at 45k miles. My indy quoted me $170 labor and I bought the NGKs off Ebay for $53. So spent $225 vs the dealer quote of $450. Just an fyi.

Mazda dealer prices getting out of control. Their pivot to near-luxury feels a little over-the-top in the service department.

When I had my plugs changed (2018 CX9 GT AWD), I had my local oil change place swap them out for $75 cash. Worth mentioning that I'm a long way out of warranty and avoid the dealer for all things unrelated to recall.

I'd be careful with eBay, just because there are so many non genuine products. If you want to stick with a brand, might as well get it at a reputable location. Never had any issues with rockauto.

Been trying a new set off Amazon recently, it's working out well. Read a few earlier posts here for the info.

I'm really tempted to try a set of those plugs. 8.0L/100km would be so nice. But I think it may be a bit risky with the JB4.

Yep, need to be aware. The plugs came from a well known auto supply house who sells stuff on Ebay. Also had my Indy confirm they were the correct oem NGK plugs.

The good thing is these plugs are easy to change on the fly. I was uncertain as well, so I walked around with my size 8 socket in case I needed to get to it on the fly (with the outgoing plugs too with 50k kms). The head of these are actually surprisingly well made, at least to the naked eye.

I ordered a set on Friday, and they arrived today. There was an Amazon.ca listing for a set of four of these A-Premium plugs for only $26.49 CDN, so I figured I'd risk it (you know, for science ). I'll swap them out sometime this week. Hopefully they play nice with the JB4.

At first glance they look pretty good. They're packaged exactly like the NGKs I had used previously, with each plug in it's own box and a cardboard tube around the plug threads.

Those plugs have risen from around $12-14 to over $17 @. They are still cheaper than Mazda OEM prices
