CX-5 rates dead last in Motorweek Compact SUV comparison

I use a rear facing infant seat in mine constantly, both my wife and I think the car is great for baby seats. It has the steel anchor points, so we don't need to fuss with the seat belt, and theres a ton of room so the person in front of the seat doesn't feel cramped. The only reason i bought the cx-5 was to carry my daughter around, so its funny that it was rated poorly for that reason.

I'm in the same boat. We bought a CX-5 last week because a Scion Xa and a WRX just weren't going to cut it anymore. So far my only complaint has been with the rear facing car seat. We use a base so we can pop it in and out, and at the car seat demo we went to they told us the middle was the best spot. Unfortunately it doesn't fit in the middle. The handle rests on the front section center console. Really it's nitpicking, but thought I could provide some potential insight on the rating.

C&D gave the CX-5 high marks, Motor week has a very sterile approach to their reviews. What does consumer reports say?

What denotes an EXPERT?

Exactly... (iagree)

+1 ...Advertising. Also, I stopped trusting Consumer reports years ago...although this time around, they rated Tesla...PERFECT..(what is perfect anyway)

The only "Expert" I trust is ME!
I drove many of the competing models, did a fair bit of reading, and watched many of the Youtube "reviews" prior to buying my CX-5. To be honest, I had not really even considered the Mazda in my own short list...But then driving was my deciding factor. The major compromise here was the Mazda full time 4 wheel drive. It is weaker than many of the competitors, but since I rely on it primarily to get around in snow (if we EVER see some here again!)...it was suitable enough!

Meh. Small sample error. A handful of testers tells you nothing. Here's an interesting example of small sample errors.

Statistics on best schools shows that the best schools, based on student test scores, tend to be smaller schools. What does that tell you? Nothing, because the worst schools also tend to be smaller schools. Why? because the chances of getting an off-average result are higher in small samples.

It means nothing, but will be used by many people to help them make decisions.

I have my car seat in the middle with no problems, it's a all in one that will grow with her. You do have to move the seats forward, but I'm short and it still gives me plenty of leg room. I always use the middle for safety. Will be nice when it gets turned around next year. Will have even more front seat room.

When you buy a car seat, every store I went to let me take the demo out and try fit it. They are all made different.

As for the review, it's total BS. The Honda is horrible little car I wouldn't put my dog in.
