So I managed to damage my driver’s seat in the first 5k miles. Sat down with a pokey tool unknowingly in my back pocket. Not feeling very good about it. Tiny hole. What’s my best option here? Waiting to hear back on an initial inquiry with a local auto upholstery shop, but I figured it’d be worth it to poll the folks of the internet.

Thanks in advance!

I guess this goes in the vote for a seat cover...

Local seat upholstery shop would be my first go to. Then, depending the price they quote and how comfortable you are paying that price, I'd go from there. IMO you can find some pretty nice seat covers for great prices on sites like Aliexpress. They work great if you're just looking to cover up a blemish.

Really would like to just keep the seat as close to factory looking as possible. I’m OK with it not being perfect. In the end I’m ok with it as-is, but I’m also ok with throwing a few hundred dollars at it.

The first repair place said there’s little/nothing they can do. Their site had a ton of restored old cars but maybe they just don’t do small repairs(?). They recommended a DIY repair kit as well. They also replied with 3 paragraphs worth of content in a single run-on sentence.

My wife was working on it as well with some other place and they were talking about replacing the whole leather panel. Highly doubt anyone’s ability to replace/replicate. I’ll do more research/reach out to more places. I might end up living with it. Its just a scar— I have plenty of em on me.

Another thought— almost 20 years ago (jeez) I had a pretty sweet ‘01 Civic with some oem leather RSX seats swapped in (direct bolt-in for the fronts— it was nice). I found that whole set out of a wrecked Acura for under $200 on eBay. Rare deal, but a used replacement might also eventually be an option (I do think that’ll be rare/pricey, though).

Call your sales guy/gal, ask who they use for small repairs to leather seats. I'm sure they've had problems where some car jockey damaged a leather seat. Can't hurt to ask.

The leather piece that was torn wasn't really damaged or stained, it's just separated. Maybe it can be reattached? Maybe they have glue for that.

I'm thinking one of those glue/iron patch kits. Just a little dime size bit to keep it intact.
