CX-5 Cold Idle Speed dependent on Temperature

We've had some really cold weather here recently. I noticed a pattern in cold idle speed and temperature.

When its 0-10 degrees, the cold start idle speed is 1800rpm.
When its 10-20 degrees, the cold start idle speed is 1500rpm.
When its 20-xx degrees, the cold start idle speed is 1200rpm.

Automatic Traction Control works great in the snow.
Way to cold lately.

Perhaps some who have reported high idle have defective temperature sensors?
Recall some seeing 1500rpm cold idle in the summer.

I've seen up to 2500rpm idle at start in -38C.

Wow, that is almost -40F. Amazing the CX-5 will even start at those temperatures.
It measured -4F here last week, and I thought that was extreme cold.

They don't recommend 0W oil just for fun! Block heater definitely helps as well, but even then it takes a good 15 minutes of light driving for the coolant temp light to drop off.

But yeah, don't want to drag off-topic...... logically a bung temp sensor could definitely cause high idle, if the car thinks it needs to warm up the catalytic converter.
